Ring & Pinion Swap Out
Is there is anyone out there that has already done a Ring & Pinion change on their 2010 Camaro and what ratio did you go with? Do you think it was worth the investment?
My concern is that these Camaros with the stock ratio gear in them are quick already. For someone like myself I would like to know up front, is it so drastic a change that the rear tires "breaks loose" as you come through the gears? By the way, I have the L99/Automatic. I know its all in how you adjust your driving habits/style, but before I go and change my R&G to a 3.73 or 4.10, I kinda want an idea of just how dramatic a change it made. Look forward to everyone's reply. Thanks, Shan |

Search is your friend... plenty of people have gears already...
Right now the install kit is hard to come by. You wont have an issue with 4.10s and a six speed (auto or manual). And yes, it will be a DRASTIC difference. These cars should have had 4.10s to begin with. You will rip through first and second pretty quick but like you said, just adjust your driving habits and get used to it. I am next in line for the 4.10s here at a local shop, I will give my review once I get them and the weather breaks. Fleming Co., my father in law has a farm right outside of Flemingsburgh. Glad to see I am not the only one curious about this. If it requires a set of "sticky tires" so be it. But as we all know the tire manufacturers don't give those away neither. $$$$ for R&G and more $$$$ for some serious traction rubber (if needed - we'll have to see/hear some feedback from our fellow Camaro5 members)
Perhaps jrhaus76 will get his installed very soon and give us the play-by-play of just how loose the rearend does get with a better/different gearset. Hopefully as we said already; with a simple adjustment in driving style we can save us the $$$$ for tires. Thanks, Shan |

I for sure will be giving a full write up on the 4.10s but like I said, there are members who already have them installed. |

I was convinced that I wanted 4.10 gears until I did the tune. Now I can't use any more power on the street with stock tires.
A tune is a lot cheaper than the gears!

For street driving with an A6 a gear change is not necessary. Get a tune (both ECM and TCM) and you will have all your stock tires can handle.

Gear change to 4:10 will really shine after you get out of 1st gear (maybe ease into 2nd as well ) and beyond, should pull like a freight train!... Just don't get too rough with the throttle in 1st.
4:10's... they're not just for 1st gear. They'll help your 0-60 a little, help your 0-100 alot!

Qwkss ,
Whats your take on this now? If I am going through the traps, I am going to be faster stock factory ratio gear with a "TUNE" only or perhaps the same if not FASTER with leaving the "TUNE" alone (for discussion purposes only here now) but just add a 4.10 gear. What do ya think? Thanks....SJ Lynn |
