PA tint law

Ok guys. I know there is no actual "LAW" in Pa about tint. some stupid bulletin. whats legal, whats not is not clearly stated. Anyone in PA had trouble with tint?
Im thinking a smoke tint, very light and subtle, maybe 20%??
I had matching tint on my suburban and didnt have any issues but was always cautious. id roll the windows down if I saw a cop....
any thoughts?

The technical law is that the office should be able to clearly see you....

so it is basically up to the officer's discretion to give you a ticket or not...

if you get one.... grab a white piece of paper and write "CAN YOU READ THIS?" on it... and take a picture of the car from the outside with the paper against the window. Bring said picture to court and that should get you out of the ticket

The usual standard for PA is that you can't go below 70%, but I guess its not really written as a law. Seems something you could really fight: http://www.berksweb.com/users/dmv/tint/

I had 20% on my old Lebaron vert and 35% on my G6 and never had a problem and that was a good 11 or 12 years worth of driving (and I covered a lot of ground from Pittsburgh to Philly in that time)

I got pulled over a couple years ago on the turnpike. The trooper had some gadget that measured light going through the glass/tint. He told me there had to be at least 35/38% light had to go through. I was at around 30% so he wrote me up for tint. Being he did not give me the speeding ticket, that incurred points, and court was 2 hours from home I did not fight the ticket.

The only thing the PA tech bulliten says is they have to be able to clearly see you through the window...
Which I agree is a good thing for officer safety. Im not trying to hide anything, just want the look.
