Hello everyone. It's good to see all the spirited discussions about our newest offering for the Camaro. Unfortunately there I do not have a lot of information on the vehicle or even the possibility of new products (the Z28). When I do get some more information (pricing, options and finalized specs) I will make sure to let all of you know. I hope that all of you are as impressed with the vehicle as I am. Thank you for your time.

car and driver states an april 2012 model currently dubed "track pack" could be named z/28 and possibly get the 7.0 liter. That would keep it with the classic style since z/28 was more handling than straight line balls out power like the zl1 is. This info was in the latest edition of Car and Driver

if a Z28 with an LS7 comes out next year (I'll buy one) there's gonna be a lot of crying! (by most SS buyers, but probably not the ZL1 crowd)

if that does happen i might be inclined to buy that instead of a SS or maybe talk to a dealership to see if they're goin to do anything with the Z28

A track car is not just about HP it's about finesse. 1/4 mile guys are all about HP, not us canyon/hill carvers. It's the whole package!

when my dad was at the dealer putting a down payment on the 2011 indy pace car camaro convertable he asked about the zl1 and the guy said they already have around 8 people are already lined up for a zl1 if they even get that many but they are smoking i would love to get my hands on one. plus in about 10 and so years that car will already be worth more then they bought it for.

yeah, too much speculation on a 'z28', that GM doesn't want to dilute the release of the ZL1. I'd say 6 months post ZL1 release(per their 'plan')...

Man just let the Z28 fantasy go. It's not worth it. It does not matter what they call it: ZL1, SS, Z28, IROC, etc. someone is going to complain.

I think the 7.0L is a real possibility; might as well build cars like this until you can't after 2015 CAFE requirements kill most of the fun cars with V8's...

I've had my SS for almost two years, and would be interested in seeing same day track results with the SS and ZL1 going heads up on the drag strip and a road course.
The ZL1 has enough creature comforts and all out power to entice a lot of the SS crowd out of their "aging" cars and into a new one. Anyone on the fence with an SS that has been waiting for the warranty to expire before adding a blower/turbo will be running for the dealerships or running for the tuners just as soon as the pricing is released.

All I know is that I bet the 5th gen would create the baddest Z28 anyone's ever seen from the factory.

There are already alot of SS models that are faster then the proposed ZL1.
