Not even close. No bodywork shared whatsoever between the GMT-900s and K2XXs.

What a let down for me in the looks department. I've never bought chevys for looks anyhow. Hopefully the goodies under the skin make up for the looks.

GM's lack of a redesign for so long, and then to tout this as a major redesign, is the biggest joke of the last decade. |

My whole argument was that they should have killed GMC, dumped the whole house into Chevrolet and gone worldwide with the Chevrolet Brand as a truck brand to compete with Toyota.. Tall order yes, but think about what would be possible if Chevrolet launched an uptrim level of the Traverse, Equinox, and Silverado to supplant the Denali and compete with the King Ranch and Big Horn? The need for GMC would be nonexistant at that point. Other side of the coin would be to kill the Silverado, Nox, and Traverse and leave all trucks to GMC and launch it as a global brand. |

Not sure if sarcasm or serious..
But on topic: Sales are the true vindicator of whether or not GMC and Chevrolet can coexist in the long run. They did it with Buick and Cadillac.. Though there is a ways to go still before the XTS can compete with cars like the 7 series and high end executive Mercedes. |

Maybe now with lesser amounts of brands it may not matter, but back then it certainly made a difference. But if you drop GMC, then get the ugly off the Silverado and make it LOOK like a GMC, and I'd buy it. Either truck would be pretty much functionally the same, but the GMC looks better IMO.

Cadillac and Buick are different products. One is supposed to be GM's answer to the Germans and the other GM's answer to the Japanese. Sierra and Silverado are not different products (even though GM will tell you otherwise). The XTS is a wonderful car but it is indeed a long way off from competing with the 7-series and S-class cars. Having said that, it's a really good deal compared to German cars. I know, I know.....
