That aside, I was wanting to know what exactly the OP had on his particular car, and what his experience had been. Thanks for those links though, I'll check them out too.

I'm probably going to do this myself since I plan on tracking my car and it will be a way to transport tire & wheels and extra tools. Phuc everybody else if they don't approve.

IMO... Do what you want, it's your car. I personally don't care for the receiver. Mine was already installed before I purchased my Camaro. I hit a shredded tire on the interstate a couple of months back. I plan on uninstalling it when I replace the bumper. BTW, it is installed pretty well for those of you who are thinking about installing one. Very tough!

Yep. The hitch and rack keep the bikes extremely stable, and far away from the bumper. The rack has three anti-sway cradles per bike and also came with a quick adjusting strap for extra stability. It locks with a key to the hitch and has a cable that pulls out of the rack to lock the bikes to the rack with the same key.

Whether tire trailer ever sees double duty as a hauler of bathroom fixtures, cabinets, drywall, bags of home improvement stuff, etc., is at the car owner's option. But it's a neat way of not having to buy a truck or SUV that you might never drive otherwise. Norm |
