No oil pressure, sat overnight, now fine?

I drove my 2011 2SS for about 20 miles, we went into a restaurant for probable 20 minutes, came outside, cranked up my car and about 5 seconds later is reads no oil pressure turn engine off.
I cut the engine off, get out and look at the oil. Its full. The car has 11k miles on it. I cranked the car back up just to see. Same notification and about 2 seconds later the car started making a rattling noise coming from the engine. I shut the car off and called the dealership the next morning. I had it towed to the dealership. The said they couldn't find any problems.
They ran it about 50 miles and it never would do it again. I have had it back for a week and put about 100 miles on it and it seems to be running ok. What could have done that? Why is it working now?
My concern is...being out of town and the car doing this again and ill be stuck. The tech and the dealership said have it towed in again if it does it or just run it till the motor blows and they will replace it. He really seemed to share my concern about it doing it again but he said if the dealership can not duplicate the problem then they can not fix it.
I guess they would rather not take my word for it and fix a $100 part and just let a 8k motor blow.

The oil pump pickup could have stuck for a moment. There have been many folks here with stock oil pumps dying.

The oil pressure at idle goes around 15PSI alot but other times it idles around 28PSI. Ive read a lot of other post stating around 28PSI is the norm. WHat could be causing this low oil pressure?

Car just did it again. This time the engine is ticking really loud. Its obvious its not getting oil. I just hope when it gets towed tomorrow, it will do the same thing for the dealership. Ill keep this thread updated.

If you would like, I can set up a case with GM Customer Service. I will just need your first and last name, address, phone number, VIN, mileage, and involved dealership name.

Please send it all to my inbox.

If the engine is gone...Ill be contacting GM, dont worry. I begged the dealership to replace the oil pump but No.....have to wait for the motor to blow and replace the 12k motor. Now I wont have a numbers matching car which is my biggest concern as I planned on passing this car down to my car and he hopefully keep it. Now Im wanting a buy back but I know that will not happen.

Needs a new oil pump, pressure relief valve sticking. Don't drive it like that or it will need a complete engine. Dealer needs a refresher course in LS engine diagnosis and bulletin reading, that is one of the more common problems.

Oil pump was replaced this time. They had to call GM and they authorized it. SO now my car was ran without oil twice and they said no damage was done to the engine. They have absolutely no way of knowing that.
