Spot light for welding
Hey guys,
I'm doing some Christmas shopping and I was wondering if any of you use a nice spot light while welding. My dad just got into welding and is having trouble seeing with the hood down before he starts. Any tips would be appreciated. Thanks!

Never heard of that, and I'm in the steel fabricating business.
You dont have to see with the hood down, set it up so that you nod your head and it drops with you already in position. If you cant do that then use an auto-darkening helmet. I took my test with a normal helmet and dim lighting, you just set up and flip it closed, once you strike your arc you can see |

OP, In addition to the head nod mentioned by the others, here is a link with some options... It's what I had to do for my father in law... He loves it... and loves it even more when I show up to do the welding for him...

I have an auto darkening helmet... much easier than the head nod/starting blind.

What number shade is the lens? I prefer a #10.Also I like the Omnview gold foil style lens.If welding in the sunlight you could go as light as a #9,never never any lighter.
