I'M CONFUSED...PLEASE HELP - Camaro5 Chevy Camaro Forum / Camaro ZL1, SS and V6 Forums

Would somebody please explain this to me.

I just got my VIN from the dealer. When I searched for my car on "2010 Camaro Database," it lists a different dealer (not the one I placed my order from).

What does this mean?????

Did my dealer not have enough allocation, so ordered my car through a different dealership? Should I ask my dealer why a different dealer is listed when I searched my VIN?

PLEASE HELP...

Not sure? It could be one dealer picking up another dealer's allocation, due to a car swap and such. Call your dealer to clarify.

Errr.. Never heard of anyone dealer trading on Camaro's yet so have no idea. Maybe they gave you wrong vin number?

maybe its just shipped thru that othe dealer, and then they will do a local ship to your dealer... keep us posted...

Could the other dealer be a sister store one owned by the same dealer. I have seen a few smaller stores that have a bigger dealership use that allocation to get a Camaro.

First off, I'm not being a smart ass. I've been a member here for 3 years and was a lurker for 6 months before. What I'm getting at I've seen post and situations allot like this and for the most part everything has turned out to be fine. Yes there have been one time that I know of that the buyer has been screwed by a dealer loosing his allocation by not paying GM but that has been rare. If the op is worried that much he should start making calls ASAP and see what if anything is truly wrong. Best place to start is the dealer that the vin is under. I say that because the original dealer may be unwilling to give correct info. Anyhow somewhere along the line someone from GM may need to get involved to rectify the situation if they have lost the allocation. Anyhow chances are there's nothing wrong.

Dealers tend to trade cars that others have in inventory even if they are not affiliated, I bought a 2002 trailblazer like that.
They did a search and found a matching SUV an hour away and they called and traded the car I wanted for another one on their lot. This is probably the same thing they gave them a kickback for a car they had pretty much already sold while the other dealership was struggling to find a buyer.

So mike25 since you haven't been on here long welcome aboard and please don't jump on people making short but probably accurate responses. After all GM does not pay me to type essays every time a new person ask about a problem that has already been beat to death. If I had a dollar for every time a new poster came on here and asked about something that has been said a million times before well you know where I'm going with that. The first thing he should have done is called the dealers and find out what they said before getting all worked up, hence my response why care al long as you get your car.

Nobody asked you to reply, and certainly no one asked you to say what you did. Term of membership means nothing in my eyes, especially with comments like yours.

Anyways since you've offered some info it doesn't really matter, so I suggest we move on.
