I wonder if the Z28's LS7 is going to come complete with the Z06 LS7's crappy valvetrain. Lots of unhappy camper Z06 owners. I hope the general gets it right on this one

The Z is Back!

Hmmmm no HID, no LEDs, no cushion in the rear seats, no speakers and they even removed the wiring to save a pound. So it’s not going to be easy to retrofit. Did I miss something or couldn’t you always order the Z28 RPO with all trim levels and an automatic?? What about a Z28 Vert?? Finally after waiting for what seemed a lifetime for the Z28 to return it comes in only one limited model flavor… If one can only afford one Camaro, and one wants to take it to the track and make use of it for anything else I guess one must rough it! Seems to me what should have been done to the ZL1, the Z28 was more of a masses car. It just seems flipped to me..

First gen. Z/28 could not be ordered with auto tranny, air conditioning and not available as a vert.

500 at the crank... how much get to the wheels? 425... 450? Will this have the same Z06 transmission that the 1LE has?

Well.. acording to some of the latest info it is said that GM fixed the head issues for the 2012 year. Time will tell.

Also.. a ls7 in a c6 puts down around 440rwhp. This car is still not sae rated and in a different chassis with a different drivetrain. The number could go up or down however 440rwhp is what I would expect.

With a 3820lbs car (-300lbs. than a zl1) she should perform close to a zl1 in a straight line but according to the marketing the z28 is 3 seconds faster on the track. A second is almost an eternity... 3 seconds is just bananas!!!!! No ford pony car can touch that... not even the 700hp (real hp) gt500.

The 1st Gen Z/28s were all 302 4-speeds. No automatic and no AC. Starting in '70, you could get an automatic. AC wasn't available until '73.

Yeah, whoever wrote that got it backwards. The first 302s were created using 327 blocks and 283 crankshafts.

LS7

Aside from the tri-Y exhaust manifolds, is the LS7 in the Z28 any different than the LS7 that's been around for several years on the Z06?

Amazing what the extra cornering grip, killer brakes, and lighter weight will do! Does anyone know which track Chevrolet was using when they said the Z/28 is 3 seconds per lap faster than the ZL1? Maybe VIR, I was thinking...

Wonder what it would do with a few improvements from Katech?

it actually might make more power than the ls7 in the Z06 since it already has a CAI on it. Biggest factor will be how free flowing that exhaust is on it.

For the HP junkies out there, I see a lot of 580rwhp H/C Z28s in the future
