Busted for dark window tint - Camaro5 Chevy Camaro Forum / Camaro ZL1, SS and V6 Forums

Yesterday evening about 5:30, I was driving down the interstate headed to work. When I passed an Alabama State Trooper sitting in the median, he pulls out and comes after me. I pull over and he comes up to my car questioning me about my tinted windows. I have 35% on my entire windsheild and 15% on the rest of the windows. He told me all my tint is illegal and needs to be removed. Thank goodness he only gave me a warning ticket. I have always had dark tint on all my cars and this is the first time I have ever been pulled over in the past 24 years for having illegal tint. I don't want to remove my tint but I sure don't want to pay for a ticket. Should I chance it???

No I wouldn't, you drive a nice car and the police are jealous. Is he making you drive to the police station and show you that it has been taken off? I would remove it.. I had 1 percent all around except for the window and took it off after my first ticket. Just use a fabric steamer to remove it.

Maybe loose the windshield tint. It's what gets you pulled over in Florida too. They don't seem to care as much about the other windows but when they can tell you did the windshield they usually write you up.

I would love to have my windows tinted but a few years back I was pulled over by the Michigan State police for tinted windows on my Montecarlo SS. He even wrote the ticket as obstructed view. I got points for it. No more tint for me.

You can go pretty dark in Florida and still be legal. Only state troopers care down here.

Alabama brother. 32% all around and only 6 inches of the windshield, from the top, can be tinted. Sorry.

I'm unsure of Bama state law, in NY its a fix-it-ticket, so if you know a cop have him sign off on it and mail it in. If you don't have that option take it off your windshield and just leave a strip.

I personally say chance it, I'm riding with 15% and plan on putting 35% on the windshield soon. I'm a firefighter and I know a lot of cops. They usually only pull you over for that stuff if they are bored. Try to stay in the slow lane in traffic or drive beside a car when passing the state trooper hide out spots! It might work lol

They pulled you over JUST for tint?

Wow...PA...thats a secondary offense, you have to do something else wrong first.

In New York City, any windshield tint is illegal.

He probably thought he would get lucky and you would not be wearing a seatbelt or smell beer or weed or something, forget about it. if it ever happens again, just tell him the tint was on the car from the dealer, and you never even thought about it and had no idea there was any kind of law cause you see limos with blacked out windows and don't even consider yours as dark as theirs.

guess i'm in the minority,i say get legal tint and not ever have to worry about getting pulled over for ilegal tint again.
