Smoked clutch

Hello everyone

Just picked up my new 2010 2SS black on black beast and have been loving it from the first day.

However.... Had a small issue yesterday. I was asked to do a quick burnout for a friend who wanted pictures for above his bar. Figured sure why not.

I have done 3 or 4 burnouts without any issue's but this time all was a huge fail. Im pretty sure i didnt dump the clutch fast enough and was also pressing to hard on the breaks and ending up slipping the clutch instead of spinning the tires. It slipped bad enough to produce a fair bit of smoke and also clutch pedal was stuck about 1/4 way up till i pumped it a few times. Retried a second time ( Stupid i know) and result was same but without clutch pedal getting stuck. Both times however produced a fair bit of smoke from clutch burning.

Drove it today and works fine. No slipping or even smell left. My question would be what kinda damage have i done? Should i take it to dealer with the i dont know what the hell happen? lol Whats a new clutch worth if i gota flip the bill in the end.

Thanks in advance

I wouldn't worry about it. Just drive it normal (hard, it's a muscle car; but be smart). Try not to slip the clutch as much. If you're just doing a burnout, turn off traction control, rev it up to 2 grand or 2500 and let her rip. Don't mess with the brakes and don't do a burnout uphill when launching.

If under normal driving you experience issues, take it to the dealer for them to check out.

The clutch pedal not coming up all the way, for example. I have over 10,000 miles on mine now. It's the V6, but once I hammered the throttle a little too much in my uphill driveway and got the nasty clutch burn smell.

Do a search on trans issues so you know what to look for, but you should be ok.

It seems to work the same as before.

My concern was the amount of smoke and doing it twice back to back.

Few people that seen it said clutch wont last very long now.

Worst part was one of the guys had the dodge challenger there and got a good laugh outa it...

Dropping it off at dealer today for 1:30pm

Problem is this is the only camaro in my city and they have little to know knowledge on the pedal sticking issue.

My guess is there going to say all is fine and have a nice day.

Any advice for when i drop it off?

Had the clutch pedal stick on me once. realized quickly and didnt totally smoke the clutch. The reason the clutch slipped the second time was likely due to it being so hott and glazed from the first time it slipped. My car never did this again, also it was when it had less than 1000 miles on it.

Either way ill be taken care of he maintains ..........

will keep ya posted on results.
