Sounds good! Am I the only one who thought a muffler-less system would sound louder?
Also for those clamoring for dyno numbers, I dont think the numbers would increase all that much considering total airflow has not really been increased, only exhaust flow (at the expense of backpressure, mind you). That's assuming the engine is sucking in air as fast as the stock paper filter allows (unless you already did that and I can't read). Cold air intake, plus removing the mufflers, and I would expect a bigger increase in gains. |

Now if your exhaust shop can do this same thing with 409 pipe, I will agree that the life of the exhaust system should be extended. Another thing to consider is these huge factory mufflers are part of the car's rear collision crumple zone and without them it is possible that you are compromizing your safety (or at least rear seat passenger safety) if you were ever to get rear-ended. Now please don't take my comments the wrong way ... I am in no way against this type of mod, and this in particluar was executed perfectly and sounds much better than most muffler deletes I've heard. Just wanted to point out a couple of concerns that may be of importance to some readers. Thanks for posting it and taking the time to do all the videos ... a job well done !! Doug |

I don't know if the absence of the mufflers will affect the design of the structural crumple zone but I agree 100% the metals need to match.

I wonder how the V6 would sound with this mod?

pipes
If they weighed about 15 lbs each, how much did the factory pipes weigh that were removed/replaced? Just would like to know how much total weight was actually reduced. Sounds great. They will have to add another sign in our city besides the NO Engine Brakes from trucks.

Do you have proof of this, or is it just a guess? I have trouble believing that mufflers are a part of a structural crumple zone. That would mean if you changed to any aftermarket muffler you would change the effect of the zone. But being how its not a fixed part of the body it doesnt seem plausible.

No sh%*. Of course the camara had to be on to boot. I have been so busy playing does anyone know how to turn off the traction control BS so it does not bog it down on takeoffs? I suppose I could read the book but who has time when you have a toy to play with. You would have to see me tee off a golf ball to understand that I cant perform under that type of pressure..lol

Larry, I'd wait until you have a few miles on her before you drive it properly.

Geez, I already have 650 miles on him, Have changed the oil once at 350 miles and kept it under 4000 rpm for the first 450 miles. I have driven him at different speeds and now its time to let it settle in to the life it is going to know and live. lol I am so glad I dont live in a high density residential area. Plenty of room for the horses to play!
