Rock chips from highway workers.

I drove on some highways today that were being worked on and I have to say it was some of the sloppiest highway work I have seen - with signs all over etc. I am sure you can all relate. Basically there were tons and tons of tiny rocks/ pebbles all over the ground and a bunch of them have chipped the paint on my Camaro on the hood/sides etc....is this covered by insurance in anyway? Or anything that I could do??

Couple of different ways to surface a road, "chip sealing" which is probably what he is referring to as "seal coating" is a process of first laying down tar and then laying down a layer of white/grey stone and rolling it. Mostly used on secondary roads. This process almost always leaves an abundance of small stones that don't stick right away but after enough traffic they either end up in the ditch or beat down.

Then there is asphalt which is a hot mixture that arrives on site ready to be spread and rolled.

Ahhh!! Well haha the more you know! In this case they had a tar/asphalt mixer on site from what I saw, there was just pebbles and rock debris everywhere... from their left over work it seemed.

Out here they have us drive over it at low speed and it " seals" the pebbles into the tar layer.
