Stability/Trac Service Light

Needs some help guys! My Stability/Traction Control light came on in my car about a few days ago.

1. Can't turn it off with holding the button for 7 secs.
2. Just stays on all the time
3. I've done and checked everything including the coils to the spark plugs.

It's a 1LT RS V6

Any other ideas? Or just send it to the dealer?

Have you had it up on a rack (oil change, etc...) or any wheels off or any other service recently?

Go to a local auto parts store and see if they read codes for free. Find out what it's complaining about.

I did change my wheels but this was a while back, I did add a K&N CAI about a month ago and that't. I think it's heading to the dealer tomorrow.

I held the Trac control for about 30 seconds and the lights came off but only stayed off for about 2 seconds.

Is the StabiliTrak more of a check engine light?

No, and I'm not sure it'll generate a code, but it's something free to try before paying the dealer to check it.

Is your new wheel/tire combo close to equal circumference front and back?

If the diameter of the front set and back set was only close, but have gotten too far apart with tire wear, that will set off the Stabiltrac.

It might be worth the trouble to look underneath and be sure the fragile ABS sensor lines haven't gotten into harm's way too.

Also a dirty MAF will trigger it as well. A can of cleaner from the auto parts store is cheap and easy to use, and not a bad thing to add to your routine maintenance.

You may want to try that before dealing with an appointment etc...

hey i just had this problem with my car. went to the dealership about 5 - 6 times they said they had it fixed everytime but the light kept coming back on and going off. Apparently my speed sensor wire was chafing and mis positioned (My dealership did my lowering springs as well) ask them to check your speed sensore wire / sensor positioning maybe it will be an easy fix

They're the same size as the previous wheels I had and had trouble for a few months. I might try the MAF cleaner since I haven't had a any issues until recently installed.

I'll check the undercarriage tomorrow as we'll.

Thanks for the tips
