Interesting, however the top Corvette for the 2014 model year is a 3LT with the Z51 package at about $63 grand. Somehow I don't think the new Z/28 is going to be $39,690.

That 290 hp on the original Z28 is underrated but a lot to. More like 400hp

...I smiled very broadly when I saw the pic. Top of the food chain brawlers, past and present. Beautiful. Thing is... a butternut yellow '67 Z/28 factory stock I had the fortunate opportunity to check out that was for sale in the late 80's but the asking price was a bit too much for me then, and who knew anything about future value because the speculation didn't really exist much at that time...but it's a lasting memory.

Under rated or not, 400 hp then is a lot different from 400 hp now. I wouldn't be surprised if todays LFX V6 makes more 1960s era SAE gross power than the 400 hp that the old 302 'actually' made

That front splitter is adding a few inches to the length of the Camaro.....

Looking at the exterior dimensions of the 2014 1LS Camaro and comparing it to a 1967 Camaro I see where a lot of the weight came from. Though I find conflicting data on the internet about the actual exterior dimensions of the 1967 Camaro.

I would take the '67 over the 2014 in a heartbeat. The 1st gen Camaros had a style to them that IMO cannot be topped.

Having drivena real 69 Z/28 on a road course, I would take the 67 over the new one. Hell, if I could find a 69-70 Boss 302 willing to trade, I would swap in a minute for the classic ride. All out performance is one thing, but it takes real skill to drive one of those old buggers well!

I'm just the opposite. I am totally over old cars. Compared to cars of today even the most awesome old car is crude and drives like crap.

More people agree with you than me, though, because the value of the old ones keep going up.

In 1967, Z/28 was just the next RPO after Z27. GM didn't have a name or badges for the car. By mid-year 1968, they still didn't have a name and had been referring to it by it's RPO for a year, so they decided to just put Z/28 badges on it and make it official. RS could definitely be combined with Z/28 in 1967 and would have been marked RS. The car in the photo has rally stripes and Z/28s were the only 1st or 2nd gens to get rally stripes. No Camaros got rear spoilers until 1968. And I thought front spoilers debuted with the rear spoilers. I know that by 1969 the spoilers were RPO D80 and included front and rear spoilers.

Spoilers were available for 1967 late in the model year as an OTC purchase.

That's news to me, but I'm still pretty sure that none were factory installed until 1968.

As has been discussed on this forum previously, the first gen Indy Pace Cars got the Rally Stripes as well, so those stripes were not totally exclusive to the Z/28.

I've read for years how underrated that engine was , but Motor Trend had it 0-60 in over 7 seconds.
and before someone says something about the tire size they had the 63' Sting Ray under 6 seconds and they were no larger.
