Question: Comp Cams BSR Rocker Arm System
Hello,
Has anyone installed the Comp Cam Max-Lift BSR Shaft Rocker System? I want to upgrade to it but I cannot find where anyone has installed the pressurized oil feed to it. I asked Comp Cams but only got this as an answer. "They are set up for -4 AN o-ring style fitting. We have never tested or figured any way to actually provide the oiling. It was just a simple option to add." And a second email I got this reply. "Like I said, we never tested or actually tried to make it work on an engine. It was just a simple add on to machine the threads in the bar to allow for it if someone wanted to do it. It never went beyond that." So comp cams has not even done this... I realize that it is not a must do to add the pressurized oil to it, but want to look into doing it. Last edited by Vicster; 05-09-2024 at 06:17 AM. |

There has to be someone
There has to be someone that has installed these and tried or thought about adding the pressurized oiling to them.

Why would there be anyone? Stock rockers with trunion upgrade is a great option for 99.99% of cars. You would need some way to tap a oil way Or a pump to get oil to shaft and go through the valve covers to a port on the block ... oil doesnt run through A passage in the heads so you cannot tap and hook it up under the valve cover

Thats what I thought

These are stock rockers on a one piece bar, with a layered bushing inlay. Just wanted to see if anyone had done it... |

I doubt there is any need for shaft mount rockers unless you go with a nasty solid roller cam

What does that have to do with shaft mounts? The head of the arm broke off ... either bad material or too aggressive a cam, wrong push rod length.
Upgrading a rocker arm to a shaft mount system is not the same as going to a billet rocker arm... I had T&Ds on my 409 Solid Roller 4th gen , yella terras with an aggressive hydro roller ... You had some bad luck with that rocker arm... hopefully it didnt cause too much damage to your motor. |

On the Corvette forms some people have used them. I think they are more popular on the LS7's.
I installed them on my dedicated track day car that uses LS7 heads. Haven't fired the engine yet. One reason I went with them was I needed rocker arms and the expense of buying rocker arms and trunnion up grade was about the same as buying these. I also figured the extra stability for an engine spending a lot of time in the higher RPM's was a benefit.
