Maybe the mole and his friends spent to many hours on this forum and forgot to balance the wheels and tires and put the weights on....

That is the best one yet.

I was just on Yahoo, and typed "camaro brembo weights problem" and on the 4th page it showed:

Camaro meets the press, GM execs tout mpg - Automotive News
We are working on correcting the problem. Please bear with us. Most Read. Latest Issue ... standard on all models, including four-piston Brembo calipers on SS models ...http://www.autonews.com/article/2008...5/682473876/-1 -

Unfortunately, they want a $100 subscription for me to get access to autonews website!
Sorry, wasn't worth it to me. If someone has access maybe they can find out the story. The description is kind of encyptic so it may be about something else wrong.

7 pages and a day. Still no answers... When we do figure out, hopefully the mods put it on the homepage.

I am sure there will be an answer at some point. I did not see these weights on the pre production cars so it seems to be a purposeful change. I am waiting till December to get my car so by then I will know. Personally I would just take them off.

This should be simple! Take the dam things off, call your dealer and tell him so and let the dealer tell you what,s what. He will have to call GM and get the low down. If GM put them there for anything other then an assembly assit they will repsond rather then have a mass waiting line into the service bays under warranty. GM will have to pay for the visits to the dealers, or the dealers will have to refuse to look at the issue. Push it and you will get an answer!

Maybe I'm crazy, but taking them off when we don't know what they are for sounds like a horrible idea to me...

Its just enough weight to keep the car from doing a wheelie taking off!

Man I dunno.

The only thing I can think of is what other's have, and that it's to kill an unwelcome resonance/howl when the brakes are applied. But, that's silly on it's surface.

They're offering a free "open house" trial right now, according to the link you provided. Does anyone want to register?

Anyway, I did some googling with phrases from your quote, and "We are working on correcting the problem. Please bear with us." appears on every page on autonews.com, it's a problem with their site. The Camaro stuff you found is almost certainly just a normal announcement about the Camaro, not about the brake weights.
