Exclamation DIY - Factory Engine Cover Bling!

Orange Krate got a little more bling added to him. I picked up some 5/8" x 1/2" chrome stainless capscrews from my local True Value Hardware Store and drilled the factory engine cover rivet holes out and inserted these little jewels to give the cover a bit more reality. I used chrome stainless nylock nuts to hold the capscrews in place. About $33.00 my cost here in So Cal.... probably $5.00 elsewhere!

This is a pretty straight forward DIY project so I will not go into detailed explanation. However I will say that if you do try this project it is a good idea to put masking tape or painters tape over the area you are drilling to protect the surrounding plastic and drill a pilot hole first so there is less chance of drill bit drift with the larger size. I like this little modification and have seen no others like this.

Blinking Orange Krate!

It has been awhile since I have posted up on Camaro5.com Hopefully all my friends and followers are doing well. I am looking forward to seeing the Gen 6 make its debut. Orange Krate is rapidly approaching his 4th birthday. He currently has approx 17,500 miles on him and looks better than new. Here is the latest front shot of Orange Krate with his faux classic hideaway headlight covers.

In and Out, In and Out, that's what hamburgers are all about!

There is just something RIGHT about this photo! Notice the three signs lined up in background. Had a great time at the In and Out vintage display drive thru. Orange Krate was a hit. It was good have a buddy ride shotgun too! LOL

Master Cylinder/Clutch Fluid Change

3rd time I have drained the Master Brake Cylinder/Clutch Reservoir in Orange Krate. The car has 17,000 miles on it and is nearing 4 years old. I bought a hand vacuum pump at a local store for around $35.00 with all the attachments. Went to local Chevy dealer and picked up GM Delco DOT 3 fluid per mfg. recommendation. Just make sure to throw down plenty of towels to protect paint since brake fluid eats paint. You can see the clear brake fluid in the bottom of the clean plastic bottle and then the dirty extracted fluid that looks like root beer color. Car definitely shifts better with clean fluid.

Still a beauty... Inching closer to 4 years old

I love taking my lady out in Orange Krate even if it is just a few blocks for dinner. Not enough road time ever, as far as I am concerned. This is from last Friday night.

Lightbulb New Reverse Lights! Today.

Orange Krate received a new mod today! LED Reverse lights. It is amazing how bright these sealed lights are. Hopefully they will provide many hours of reliable service. The first two photos are before and the second two are after. The lights are so bright you dare not look directly into them.
