my cell phone video doesnt do it justice... I'll try a camera later when we do another pull. Maybe then the sound quality will be a bit better.

We are done for the evening...

We found the source of the boost reference leak and fixed that. No big-gee...

We are now in the software making adjustments to the spark tables and fuel maps. We are in uncharted territory at this point. We have hit 1700 rwhp on a boost spike. The spike wasn't due to any problem, it's just the pulse modulation to the waste gates and that is being adjusted as we go. All of the changes are baby steps at this point.

We still have not gone over about 50% duty cycle on the injectors. We got to 54% on the last pull with the boost spike but it was stupid rich. That is being adjusted....

As for the sound, OMG , we have now made pulls to 7,700 rpm and it is unbelievable. She just keeps wanting more. The fuel pumps are doing everything we ask of them. The fuel pressure regulator is tracking the boost increases lb for lb. The dry sump oil pump is making dammit pressures. We'll do some checks and may adjust that.

Mikes comment before about a Saturn 5 launch isn't too far off. Bare in mind, all of this tuning is through the full exhaust system. Corey is tuning it with exhaust and then when all is good, we will pull the exhaust and put the turn downs on for running the mile.

My new Magnecor R-100 race plug wires will be here tomorrow. These are designed to eliminate EMI as the coils we run are quite noisy and this can easily interfere with the sensor wiring and readings for the ProEFI system.

From the Magnecor site... which is an interesting read if you only go to the FAQ section. Its eye opening.

"EMI = electromagnetic interference
EMI from spark plug wires can cause erroneous signals to be sent to engine management systems and other on-board electronic devices used on both racing and street vehicles in the same manner as RFI (radio frequency interference) can cause unwanted signals to be heard on a radio receiver. Engine driveability problems ranging from intermittent misfiring to a dramatic loss of power can result when engine management computers receive signals from sensors that have been altered by EMI radiating from spark plug wires. This problem is most noticeable on modern street vehicles used for commuting where virtually every function of the vehicle's drive train is managed by a computer.
For many reasons, the effect of EMI on engine management computers is never predictable and, often, improper diagnosis for a driveability problem results in huge repair costs for a consumer because engine management sensors and other parts are replaced when all that was needed was a set of ignition wires capable of suppressing EMI (usually replaced as the last resort). As production vehicles age, engine management sensors, connectors and wiring deteriorate (and corrode) and become more susceptible to EMI radiated from spark plug wires not able to adequately suppress EMI. The problem is often exacerbated by replacing the original ignition system with a high-output system."

The wires are custom made to fit for each coil-to-plug span and come numbered to a position. We ordered two sets so we have a spare.

I'll also be receiving my new trailing arms to replace the current ones that have bent webbings in the truss design. The new pieces are adjustable trailing arms from Detroit Speed. I have Pete Basica to thank for those as he sourced them and made them available to me. I'll have them tomorrow as well.

More to follow and I'll post up another video or two when I get home in a little while..

Thanks for following along and feel free to ask questions. I'll answer what I can and get the scoop from Corey on those I can't.

I thought I heard something like a rocket burst when I was outside earlier. Glad that question is answered now. That sound of Brandi on the dyno is a thing of beauty! I need to figure out how to not be so busy with work so I can get my butt out there.

Come on out tomorrow...
We will probably be making pulls after lunch. Corey is tuning a car from Laredo in the morning...

As promised, here is a pull though in this one we were still fighting the boost reference issue. About 7400 rpm, 1500 + rwhp, still have the boost control off and just riding the springs... We did get some boost creep here as well. Went to about 17 lbs...

And the last one for the evening... We spun the tires hard in this one as you will hear at the end. This one called for 16 lbs of boost and due to the pulse width of the boost control solenoid, it actually creeped up to 21 lbs and at just over 6000 rpm it was 1700 ish + and the tires gave up...

Oh and I forgot to mention, on every run thus far, the IAT's have never been over 111- 113 in a 95 plus degree dyno room. The coolant temps have never been over 183 degrees. My C/R radiator is working and so is the inter cooler... Big time... It's an air-to-air inter cooler and there is no Meth or Nitrous on the car. Corey and I both noted how fast the motor cools down after making a pull. This engine isn't the huge heat manufacturing plant the old engine was.
