There's no source. The odds are that they are citing us. There isn't any reason to believe a Z28 would ever have more power than a Z06, so this would be wildly incorrect data.

As for the Z happening, we all know GM put the brakes on all performance car plans other than the Vette and Camaro. A lot of things need to change in the economy for the Z to happen again. Like GM being an independent company again. Problem is even with that, government may have more to say by that time. I don't see a Z28 any time soon.

And it would be non-existent for younger drivers. A 15-year-old enthusiast of my acquaintance all but sneered when he discovered what car I was driving. “Mr. Taylor,” he said, “I’m not into Camaros.”
Fine drive your little rice grinders!

Lets hope that GM gets out of chapter 11 and can resume normal operations and giving drivers fun cars. |

I can see a ZL1 beating a Z06. The Z28 was never the top Camaro, but it was arguably superior as a track performer to the SS. I'd like to see a Z28 that shares the Z06 LS7 motor, but it is going out, so making one that fits that description doesn't make sense. The one in the article doesn't match any known GM configuration.

I don't see a Z comming. GM easily could easily re-badge the SS to a Z28 in a couple years and add a few more ponnies. I could see that long before a completly different engine package. Just my thoughts

They may never manufacture it, but oldtimers here remember the reports of GM testing the 550hp LSA engine in the 2010 Camaro for a potential Z28 model.
That, indeed would have more hp than a Z06.

They're two different cars so I don't see the problem. The Z06 would still outperform the Z28, no? The extra weight of the Camaro would hinder it a bit, but it'd have to compete with the GT500 so it best at least be matching those numbers.

Personally, Id rather see the Z28 at the GT500 level but I doubt it unless GM makes the Z06 more powerful. |
