LLT Intake "tabs"

I'm getting ready to install my Ice-olator and ported throttle body. Since the engine cover will no longer fit, I wanted to powder coat my intake. I was wondering what the wings are on the sides of the center cover. I can't see any use for them, so I was going to cut them off, as well as smooth the raised lettering. (Except for the GM placard) Does anyone know what these are for?

It's how the back of the engine cover attaches to the intake, it's got some "horizontal tabs" that slide under them... You can still get your engine cover to fit if you want, you just need to buy a g8 oil filter extension, and raise the ball stud up on the opposite side. If you don't want your engine cover to fit, then go ahead and cut them off.

Oh, okay. That's what the rubber tabs go?

I think I'll cut them off and go for the old fashioned, "I can actually see my engine" look.

Yep, that's what the tabs on the back of the engine cover hook under.

Just an fyi. If you are installing an isolator you can paint the intake. The isolator will keep the manifold plenty cool enough to use standard paint.
Pictured is my intake that was painted and hydro-dipped, it has been on the car for over a year with no issues.

I'm powder coating mine. I'm matching the blk/inferno theme. Not of the exact ;ayout, but I'm going to try and mimic the rally stripes.

I love the cover with Camaro on it. Where did you get that made & how does it attach?

I second that. Nice wire covers. Looks like machined aluminum on studs.

You can still keep your engine cover if all your doing is the Black Isolator. But if you do the plume spacer or the 25mm Mace intake space they you will need to lose the engine cover.

I planned on losing the cover from day one. The did a nice job on the LS covers, just to half ass it on the v6. With the right paint job, the "ugly" intake looks pretty good.

Anyone know about the raised areas on the actual manifold right in front of the brackets off the plenum where the front bolts attach? I have a BMR strut brace that makes getting the engine cover off & on and wanted to know if i could machine those down to make it easier to put on and take off the engine cover. (and yes I know I could just leave it off, but don't want to)

I'm custom painting my engine cover metallic silver/black. To me a custom painted engine cover looks better than the exposed intake manifold
