Any other Camaro owners gonna get the Slingshot?

I don't know how I even stumbled on the video for this thing last week but unfortunately I did. Every time I look at it I get more and more stoked. So much so I put a refundable $1000 deposit on one sight unseen, never driven...kinda like the SS Convertible I ordered a few years ago. I'm sure people are gonna love or hate it, no middle of the road. They call it a motorcycle but the only thing motorcycle about is is the one rear wheel. Dealer's unveiling last week in WI, every single review said it was a blast to drive. http://www.polaris.com/en-us/slingshot Their forum (still in it's infancy) is slingshotforum.com if anyone is interested

I don't love it, but I don' hate it either. So that blows your theory. Interesting potential, but probably not worth the money. After the hype blows over, wonder how much a used one would go for?

I'd buy a new Camaro LS before I bought one of those. And probably save some money doing it. I'm banking insurance will eat your wallet. I could be wrong, but I bet I'm not.

The KTM X-BOW (pronounced: crossbow) would decimate this thing. The KTM looks a lot better too! It's just a shame you can't get one in the US.

THANK GOD you can't get them here. Keep the road bugs in the back yard. Eww. Spray that thing with bug spray. If you want a motorcycle, buy a real one. You want a car, go buy a real one.

If this is the "wave" of the future, it's going to get ugly (pun intended).

It's not a motorcycle/car hybrid "thingie". It's a street-legal go-kart (overseas). A 300 hp turbo-charged 4 cylinder, track monster that accelerates from 0-60 in under 4 seconds. My weekend play toys are the Camaro and my motorcycles and I'd still want a X-BOW.

I'm also very interested in the insurance cost as well. Hoping its cheaper because its a "motorcycle". Comparing this thing to a Camaro is a little like apples to oranges type thing. If you want to compare, the 2014 ls weighs in at 3719 lbs while the Slingshot is 1750 lbs. The Camaro pulls .86 g's and the Slingshot .88. Now I know your gonna say that the LS has a 300+ hp engine and the sling shot has a whopping 170+ hp (or maybe you weren't gonna say that and I'll be wrong twice in one thread!) but the Camaro's power to weight ratio is 11.46 lbs per 1 hp and the Slingshot's is 10 lbs per 1 hp so I think the Slingshot might be able to keep up with the LS. I'm thinking the use of this thing is more like a motorcycle as opposed to a car, but if you want a third one go for it, one's enough for me.
As for the resale, all qualified dealers in the US are only getting 3 initially and they must keep one of them on the sales floor at all times so they only have two to sell. Now I don't think I've ever seen a polaris product in person but the hub bub on their forums is that they will raise the price either when the second wave is released or mid year as was with their RZR1000.
