What happened to your previous proclamation of Brembo requiring it for some stupid warranty agreement? Quit trolling.
The warranty thing was a joke. But everything has a resonant frequency, it doesn't have to be a moving part. And don't call me a troll

Seems odd, there's no point getting worked up about it but I look forward to hearing from GM what the deal is.

Is it possible that it's some type of wheel positioning sensor that is used for stabilitrack?

see that's what I thought besides being a tire pressure reader for the OBD tire pressure readout but have researched both technologies...and nothing comes close

It's been a very long time since I've seen that but back in the ol' days.... '70s-'80s, they were used to balance the brakes during stops. i.e.-- Prevent vibrations during hard braking! I assume this is for the same reason!

Weights on Brake Calipers

Gentlemen As far as the brake weights go I heard from a fellow in the GM plant, the brakes were squeeling and by weighting the calipers the squeel went away Brembo has, since then sent a new batch of calipers to correct this problem Hope this helps

Does that mean there might be a possible recall for early production Camaros, to replace the brakes?

The weights

Gentlemen;

Wow, I never thought this would create such an uproar. THe car was at the dealer last night for an Eastern Michigan Camaro Club meeting and several opinions were thrown around. One member had a theory and it seems plausable about the weighting, far be it for me to question it as well. Finally the President of the club suggested we contact Scott, he will, and we'll end this when we get that answer. Sorry about the dirt on the inner wheel. We just spent the day driving around town when I was cleaning them is when I noticed the weights. Also I am going today to lay out the stripes with the painter and will update with pictures when they are done. I know a few will be disappointed when the stripes don't go all the way down the front but it was recommended that we don't go into the front bumper for paint matchin reasons. I will be glad to share to cost figure when I get it.

haha, i posted last night saying that a mass damper like this would be a piss poor way of fixing an NVH problem, it sucks being right... oh well at least they are addressing the problem appropriately in the future

Wheel weights on my Camaro's calipers Part II

I feel this is an important issue. For those of you who are getting your Camaro's with the "quick fix for the squeally brakes" problem," I definitely think you should have your dealer order the "corrected brembos" that others are getting.

Folks, this thread wasn't created in order to be a b*tch and moan session, but to be informative and for an answer to be found for the 2 owners that have these pieces on their brakes.

Future off-topic posts will be removed.
