so turning of the traction control does not work! :(

My question is this; with just over 600 miles on my car the hill assist seems to come on more now, it barely came on in the beginning, is anyone else having this problem?? It bit me in the &$$ today, I WAS NOT HAPPY. I was simply trying to pull out of a driveway into traffic, it was ugly made me feel like I could not drive. Never had this problem before. I am subscribed for a solution to this.

Nope, that didn't work on my car no matter how many times I tried. Not sure how you're getting that to work. My driveway is steep enough to set it off and that just doesn't work.

HSA is cannot be tuned through the ECU. It is controlled by the "Electronic Brake Control Module". The same unit that controls ABS and Stabilitrak functions.

You can unplug the EBCM to defeat HSA, but you'll lose ABS too, and your dash will light up like a Christmas tree.

It's amazing what that little user manual holds in its possession.

Are you hinting at something the rest of us haven't found yet? Please elaborate if you have found something in the owners manual or shop manual.

possible solution to HSA?

Found this on a challenger forum. Do you find anything similar in the manual for our Camaros??

Re: Hill Start Assist
This is what the manual says:

Hill Start Assist (HSA) — If Equipped
When on is selected, the HSA system is active. Refer to
“HSA (Hill Start Assistance)” under “Electronic Brake
Control System” in Section 5 of this manual for system
function and operating information. To make your selection,
press and release the FUNCTION SELECT button
until “ON” or “OFF” appears.

Then in chapter 5 it says:

HSA (Hill Start Assist) — Manual Transmission
Only
The HSA system is designed to assist the driver when
starting a vehicle from a stop on a hill. HSA will maintain
the level of brake pressure the driver applied for a short
period of time after the driver takes their foot off of the
brake pedal. If the driver does not apply the throttle
during this short period of time, the system will release
brake pressure and the vehicle will roll down the hill. The
system will release brake pressure in proportion to
amount of throttle applied as the vehicle starts to move in
the intended direction of travel.
HSA Activation Criteria
The following criteria must be met in order for HSA to
activate:
• Vehicle must be stopped.
• Vehicle must be on a 7% grade or greater hill.
• Gear selection matches vehicle uphill direction (i.e.,
vehicle facing uphill is in forward gear; vehicle backing
uphill is in REVERSE gear).

WARNING!
There may be situations on minor hills (i.e., less than
8%), with a loaded vehicle, or while pulling a trailer,
when the system will not activate and slight rolling
may occur. This could cause a collision with another
vehicle or object. Always remember the driver is
responsible for braking the vehicle.

Disabling/Enabling HSA
If you wish to turn on or off the HSA system, it can be
done using the Customer Programmable Features in the
Electronic Vehicle Information Center (EVIC). Refer to
“Electronic Vehicle Information Center (EVIC)” in Section
4 of this manual.
For vehicles not equipped with the EVIC, perform the
following steps:
NOTE: You must complete Steps 1 through 8 within
90 seconds.
1. Center the steering wheel (front wheels pointing
straight forward).
2. Shift the transmission into NEUTRAL.
3. Apply the parking brake.
4. Start the engine.
5. Release the clutch pedal.
6. Rotate the steering wheel one-half turn to the left.
7. Press the ESP OFF switch (located in the lower switch
bank below the climate controls) four times within 20 seconds.
The ESP/TCS Indicator Light should turn on and
turn off two times.
8. Rotate the steering wheel back to center and then an
additional half-turn to the right.
9. Turn the ignition switch to the OFF position and then
back to the ON position. If the sequence was completed
properly, the ESP/TCS Indicator Light will blink several
times to confirm HSA is disabled.
10. Repeat these steps if you want to return this feature
to it’s previous setting.

There is one thing that works to defeat the system. i use it every day at this one light on my way home. As you come up to a stop, just before you come to a complete stop, pull the parking brake up to the first click. The computer think you applied the brake and will not activate HSA. At the first click, the parking brake has not started to engage so your not driving with the brake on. The only bad thing is that the alarm sounds the whole time you are moving until you drop the parking brake

Re: Hill Start Assist
This is what the manual says:
There is nothing in the owner's manual that states this feature can be disabled. The service manual does mention that disabling the stability control will disable HSA, but it doesn't work. I used the hold button to disable method to disable traction control, but the HSA was still on. Pressing the TC button twice also does not disable the HSA. So no dice!

I haven't gotten the opportunity to review the wiring diagram for the yaw sensor. I will report back with what I find out. Till then, I guess we will have to fight the system or find a route without hills! There aren't many where I live but the interstate ramps usually fire the HSA.

I'm gonna ask my tech at work to download a 2012 EBCM program into my 2013!

If you have dual mode exhaust downloading a 2012 EBCM may affect how the dual mode exhaust works since I beleive that is also controlled by the EBCM.

If you disable the whole thing... meaning hold the button down (once) for more than 8 seconds, it shuts off the HSA. If you simply put it into competition mode (two button presses), it does not shut it off. I am now shutting it all off every time I start my car.
