What is the best spray solution to apply a vinyl strip kit?

Hello, I'm getting read to purchase and apply a vinyl stripe kit. I have 2 questions:

1. What's the best solution to buy to apply the stripes? I've heard of Rapid Tac; is this the best stuff to use?

2. How much of the solution do I need? I plan on getting the stripes that run the length of the car.

I just use water with a small amount of soap...

Use a less harsh soap like joy or Palmolive dawn soap is too strong n will take the glue off the vinyl

I use dawn and I've never had that problem and I've installed 3 sets of vinyls already. I wouldn't waste my money on a solution op. water and soap is all you need

me too......been applying decals for 10 years and use dish soap - 2 -3 drops per spray bottle...

I've also heard to add a little alcohol to it too...

personally I would not...it'll cut the lubricity......but I would spray the whole area with 50/50 water/alcohol before I start...

Wow, thanks for the replies. I'm happily surprised by the suggestion to use soap. That Rapid Tac would have ended up costing as much as the stripe kit!

here's a important tip..you need to bear down (just a little) on the plastic spatula to squeeze the air bubbles out after you get it where you want. In order not to scratch the stripe, tape the edge of the spatula with blue painters tape:

Just an FYI, I put a coat of wax over where the dish soap had been. Seems like the Dawn effd up my wax. Water didn't bubble off and dissipate the same

You don't use enough to do that, just a couple drops in a average sized spray bottle works fine. I have been putting vinyl stripes on cars for 40 years.
