VIDEO: Removal of Tailight Bezels / Trim

So I decided I really liked the cleaner look of the tailights with the chrome bezels removed.

Hylton and 2SSRS posted some pictures of the results, but I figured this would be helpful.

Thanks.

Nice work on the video.
Removing the rear bumper (two man job) was very simple. DC the tail light pig tail, six torx screws and two 7mm bolts.
Plastic rivets tool also help a ton and doesn't cost much. No marring (see pic).

To be completely up front... I did accidentally break off one of the tabs on the first bezel I tried to remove so go slow... The top "tabs" are the easiest, the side tabs (with a gentle nudge from a screwdriver) were pretty easy too; but the bottom tabs were a real bear.

I wear XL gloves, so others will have an easier time and anyone with really big hands will probably have to remove the entire rear bumper like GrnMchin suggests...

Great video. I did mine earlier today without seeing it Oh well, I managed to get them off off without breaking any clips which is good in case I ever decide to reinstall them. A big thank you to all of you that have posted pictures and instructions on how to do this! Including Hylton, Camero, Capstone, and A Black Camero.

Great video, I may do this in the future to my Black SS when I get ready to black everything out. Thanks again for the video.

Has anyone noticed if water gets inside without the trim rings??? just curious, I didn't see any weatherstripping of any kind of seal. Thanks

I only removed the 2 covers off the top - with the 3 posts in each one. Then, using just my (small) hands, removed each trim ring. Very easy, and only bent 1 tab - my first. I spray painted them, and put them back in. 1 small crease of paint in 1 corner than I will sand & repaint tomorrow:
