Yep, swapped out the D1SC (too small for the cubes) and went custom twin turbos PT6766 ball bearing units. Tuned all the way up to 25 psi but only running 15 psi on the boost controller for now. Its pretty out of control above about 12psi. Still fine tuning the boost controller.

What's nice is that i can run anywhere from 4 psi all the way up to 25psi with the press of a couple buttons on the boost leash.

OK sound like a good set up now. Am thinking of going turbo next year. But I want to see how much more I can get out of the whipple in good air with what I have done over the summer. Can't get much out of it with temp at 95+ here in north FL

This was a big problem i had with the D1 at 14psi. It made 758whp and during the heat of the summer 100+ it just seemed flat.

Now with the twins set to 15ish (1053rwhp on the dyno at 15psi) it is still insanely fast and violent when the boost kicks in even at 100+ temps. I have the ramp rate dialed back quite a bit and its still pretty violent. i have noticed this huge intercooler is far more efficient than the one i ran with the D1. The inlets temps are 10-15 deg cooler than ambient when driving and when the boost sets in the temps plummet further due to the meth.

I cant imagine turning up the boost to 25.....but it's nice to know it's there if i ever feel the need! Just concerned with my RXT clutch and stock M6, so no sticky strip tires for me. Just the road course setup!

To the OP, looks like you have a tough decision to make. I say keep the SS and build the hell out of it! Good luck and have fun in the process

A S/C will cost you less than you'll lose on trade in.

I would supercharge my SS, buying a ZL1 seems like the easy way out. Adding a S/C to an SS seems a lot cooler and you can make it a nice sleeper.

Hey Mr.Nasty, when are you going to come down to BMP to have some fun? I came up to SGMP for Pony Wars, maybe come down for Modern Muscle shoot out. I'm hoping to be closer to your times by then. Cant get better than my 10.625 in this heat but I keep trying! Thing I love about my ZL1 is that I'm driving it up to Canada next week from Florida, driving home, hitting the Tail of the Dragon on the way back then doing Runday Sunday at the drag strip two days later!

Hey sound like a fun trip. Yeah I was in Palm Beach back in Nov of last year. TCC5 put on a good event at the PBIR track had a blast. As far as pony wars went for me it sucked it was like I was there for T&T had no class to run in. That day was running high 10.30 their was no 10sec class they stop at 11s and the fast 8 all but one car was running 9s.

MODERN MUSCLE SHOOT OUT If the timing right am game let me know when and where.

Let me tell you my thought process. When I bought my SS new, didn't even know of a ZL1 otherwise I probably would have waited, but I didn't...

I was at the point where I thought exactly what you thought. Trade or mod the SS.
When I would have traded mine, I probably would have gotten 30k for my SS and a ZL1 would be at least 55k at the time, a 25k difference.

For that amount you can change a lot on your SS and you can have a lot fun doing it, at least I did. You can see what I have done to mine and I am at less than 15k. Mine now has more Hp than a stock ZL1, but for sure mine doesn't handle like a ZL1, but if I want that, there is money left to do it. But mine is a fun daily driver not a race car, therefore I don't need that.
If you want everything done and immediately the full package, trade in. If you want some fun along the way, mod the SS. It really comes down to what you want to get and what you want to spend...

Bradenton Motorsports Park. It is Sept 27th. We usually get a whole bunch of Camaros, Mustangs, Challengers and CTSvs. www.bradentonmotorsports.com for more info.

What's the price difference? $

If we are only talking about supercharging and not the magnetic ride suspension, different rims, and exterior pieces..

I can tell it cost about 7,000 for the kit and 1000.00 for install plus 400 to 500 for a tune..

Later on you will need the Zl1 pump, and injectors.. so I would cover my but have that done initially so when you want to add boost or other updrades your not out 800.00 for injectors or pump price and labor.

So work a deal to get bigger injectors now so u don't waste money with 56 or 52 the kit comes with.. the injectors are pretty close in price so might as well think ahead and not pay double.. just ask for the bigger injectors now
