Stupid Coyotes!
On my way to work (night shift). Swerved to miss a group of coyotes, hit the curb! Needles to say it bent my wheel; ripped a big chunck out of my tire; scratch the corner of the front fascia; through off my alignment and messed up my stabilitrack; and last but not least frosting on the cake a rock flipped up and cracked my windshield! Should have just hit the coyotes!
Guess I'm calling the insurance company in the morning! |

I love animals as much as the next guy maybe more especially if they like acorns... but here's an important lesson for everyone don't f'up your car to avoid an animal. Even a full grown coyote wont do much if any damage to your car.

That depends on the animal! Had that been even a deer I think I would take the damage I took over what that size of an animal would have done!

I wouldn't say that, sounds like he was going at pretty decent speed and it was a pack. Would have taken damage either way and this was the lesser of the two evils...

I actually seen a picture of a Camaro that hit a coyote. It got lodged in the lower grille area and was hanging out. Cool picture, but bad for the car. LOL

Sorry to hear about your car....
isclaimer: This is not a stab at anyone, nor a soap box statement... nor is it an OMG you could have __________- someone... statement....It is only my opinion of how to handle these situations from what I have seen and put into practice... :End of Disclaimer: In 25 years as a practicing Paramedic Firefighter, I responded to many many wrecks caused by trying to avoid wildlife in the road... There are several things to consider here... 1.) the majority of these accidents were substantially more damaging to the vehicle and in many cases, caused severe injury to the vehicle occupants, and some fatalities, from trying to avoid hitting a ______ . Dog, cat, deer, cow, horse, chicken, etc................. 2.) In most of these cases, (my experience) the animal they were trying to avoid was hit anyway... 3.) The fatality wrecks resulted in most cases from people seeing an animal dart onto the road from the right side and they swerved to the left, into opposing traffic causing a head on accident. 4.) Forgive me PETA people, but, the insurance company will not deny your claim if they find fur and blood on the vehicle, and it is not an at fault accident as it would be if there was no such evidence of an animal, and you drove off the road and hit a tree or something else... 5.) Animals with few exceptions cause much less damage and injury if they are hit straight on... Do not swerve, you can get on the binders hard, but remember this causes the front of the vehicle to dive down, allowing for longer legged animals to join you in the interior after sliding up the hood.... not a pretty sight....Let off the gas, slow with consideration of the above statement, and hope and pray it's not the animals day to depart the earth... I only post this out of concern for others...

You'll want to take the coyote. If you had a choice between swerving and a moose? Take the swerve. The knees on those suckers buckle and all the weight of the body goes straight over your hood at the cabin. Otherwise SSE 4 2SS is right... comp claims are generally not-at-fault and often have a lower deductible.
