Not an owner...Yet!
So i've been lurking around on here for a couple weeks now. I had seen a red ZL1 probably last year and liked it but hadn't thought much about it since. My DD has been a 2005 C230 Sedan for the last 5.5 years and i'm itching to get something much more fun to drive. Really like the look of the ZL1, which is odd because my roommate has an SS and while I like it, it doesn't make me want to go out and buy one. Hoping to pick something up in the spring, most likely a 2012 or 13 and will probably do all the normal bolt ons.
I wanted to find a car that was as new as possible, good looks, and plenty of power. For a while I was strongly leaning towards a GT500 but now I find the ZL1 much more appealing. So I plan to continue lurking around here and learning more about the cars. If there are any local people in VA with modified cars, maybe we could meet up sometime. Chip

great place to get ideas for what you will want to do with the new zl1. Is it hard keeping an older exotic on the road? Very cool car, but would scare the hell out of me to repair or maintain

Haha its tough to say 100%. Mine was unfortunately not in the shape I thought it was in and needed somewhat of a rebuild right offering buying it. Had it over 4 years and probably have $30k in maintenance. I do most of the stuff so it has been a learning experience. Not something I could drive everyday though. Has a FABSPEED exhaust and is pretty loud. That's why I want a new DD! Had a Viper before the Diablo and I drove that more. I think a ZL1 would keep me more entertained but I will keep the Diablo.

Cant go wrong the ZL1!
The GT500 is a little faster in a straight line but the ZL1 tracks better and wins on over all points for looks, feel, steering, handling, ect.

Thanks guys. I will try to remember! I work right by Quantico. Saw a black ZL1 in Fredericksburg yesterday and I looked at the white one at Radley the other day just to get an idea.

Haha well when I got the C230 I was commuting about 85 miles a day. Last of the supercharged 4 cyl so I've gotten as good as 37.5 mpg in that hog. I only drive about 40 miles a day the last couple years so mpg doesn't bother me too much now lol. I will need to test drive one but I'm going to wait until April at least due to work stuff.
