It seems like K&N and Injen intakes make the HP and torque worse than stock in RPMs below 2600-2800.

While the Airaid and CAI intakes start off with better than stock HP and torque in as low RPMs as the graph goes.

99% of my daily commute is under 2500 RPM, so this makes me weary of getting an Injen eventhough they provide the highest overall gain. It seems like my first choice based on those graphs would be the Airaid?

I don't know if what I have gathered from the graphs are definitive and final, but it would suck if I spend money to get an intake kit and for 99% of my driving I get less performance :(

You are talking about less than 2 lbs tq on avg. This is not something you are gonna notice. Performance on all of these intakes is pretty much dead even. For me, I'm looking at IAT. The more consistent those are the more consistent your power is gonna be.

No problem. You have to consider the average hp was calculated from 2500rpm to 7000rpm at WOT. When WOT your rpm range is in 4000rpm to 7000rpms 95% of the time.

I think the graphs just start at a different point.

That's a good point (I'm pretty fresh to the world intakes and dyno's). Maybe Jannetty Racing could add a third stat averaging the 4000-7000rpm range.

Thanks again Jannetty racing for this service to the v6 community.

I'm with BlackSS on this. I've done many 0-60 mph runs at different temps (35 to 85*) and as we all know the LLT loves the cooler air and it showed big time in my experience.

I'm kinda liking what I have installed now.

Taking into account ALL of the factors pertaining to the results, the rankings would have to be:

1/2 (TIE) CAI/Injen
3 AiRaid
4 K&N

Reasons:
  • CAI automatically gets a 1st place spot because it rated #1 in peak hp (fantastic for a high mounted filter)
  • Injen ties for 1st because of it's overall performance, but didn't take 1st outright because it was the most difficult to install and required mods
  • AirRaid takes 3rd because of overall performance and it's higher peak hp over the K&N
  • K&N is last for providing the least amount of performance along with having O ring issues

My thoughts exactly squatin!

Realistically, you would only have a VERY small chance of hydrolocking, but it's still there. Plus, the CAI only takes 10 min to install so it would come out fast if you have a finicky dealer and want to be OEM for any warranty work.

I like the AirRaid b/c of the performance at lower and mid range RPMs....but hate the fact that it by far had the highest IAT temps. I'm a huge fan of the Injen, but I'm a bit torn.

Hrm....I'm thinking AirRaid with IAT relocation to help keep temp levels consistent! I know it kind of sucks to think about having to make a modification, the mod itself lol....but it shouldn't be difficult

Awesome results, and big thanks to Jannetty for putting this together!

Again, for those with worries, my Injen has seen several bad rain storms, not once has ti actually seen anymore water then anything else under the hood. You'll have to submerge the filter, meaning, driving in 12-14" of standing water, to seriously create an issue.

Now, the install thing?? LOL, you have me there, it is the most time consuming install. IMHO, the results are worth it!
