These cars have modern day horsepower - the COPO 427 has old school torque. A mild cam in an old school 427 has them pushing 500hp and 500+ ft lbs. of torque - this is the power and torque that snaps you back in the seat and shreads the tires. It does help however that the 1969 COPO cars run 14" bias ply tires in stock form.
And the weight differential is what? Not to mention creature comforts. COPO, MAKO and the rest of the hot iron that came in that period were not even half as comfortable nor safe as the Gen 5. Not by a long shot. My 69 SS 396 was a potent car for the times but it doesn't hold a candle to this Gen 5. The whole package in the SS is an incredible bundle considering current green initiative, fuel types, etc. I would much rather sit in a Gen 5 traveling across country chirping the tires here and there, then doing a 500 ft burnout in a COPO and having no kidneys left after 200 miles of driving. Just saying...

My COPO 427 would snap your head back and leave a nice chunk of the bias ply tires between every gear including 4th - now that is the way to do it.
The 4th gen i posted had 420rwhp n/a plus a 200shot of juice it would snap your neck do not worry. End of third gear was 120mph right at the end of the 1/4 off of the juice. The engine spun to 7000rpm all day long.

If you do not see the fun in doing a good old burnout why open up and then post in a burnout thread???
