Whirring sound

Hey all,

wondering if anyone has heard a weird noise when decelerating. It almost sound like a toy car winding down. I can sort of here it while accelerating, but it is most noticeable when slowing down.

**Should note that its audible through the vents.

Could be gear meshing in the differential. Is it constant or intermittent? Does it happen in all the gears or lower gears only?

I have this too! Just noticed a few weeks ago... it seems to be related to the rain. Or maybe that was just coincidence. But I've noticed on hotter days, it doesn't seem to do it, and on the wet humid days, I can really hear it.

Maybe this helps

edit: and I have a 2LT too, so same v6 engine

Yeah I could get some video-you can hear it while driving, but most when slowing down. Its weird because it just started about a week and a half ago.

Many have posted hearing a weird rubbing or grinding sound as the vehicle moves with wheels turned hard one way or the other, and it goes away upon straightening the wheels. Please collect some video when you can, as it might help the forum know what kind of sound you are hearing, and if it is similar to these reports or not (in nature, not by cause).

It's def not a grinding sound. I don't really have anything to record with (yes my phone is that weak). Honestly I should just take it in and have it looked at. Just no time. So damn busy these days. Maybe my wife's phone has video...hmmmm.

Does it sound anything like this? The sound starts in the 17-20sec range of the video.

Me too...

I think I have the OP's exact same sound in my 2011 2LT RS (Black too haha). It is only present when the car is moving, and easiest to hear when I'm cruising in a quiet neighborhood in neutral with zero throttle.

My car has about 2,200 miles on it and I noticed the sound pretty early on, but have no idea if it's normal or not.

*EDIT*

I haven't noticed if I can hear the sound through the vents, but I hear it clearly when the windows are down and the stereo is off. Don't know if that's pertinent information or not.

I hope you can get your vehicle in to your dealer soon to see what could be making this noise. I hope it's nothing major and you're able to get in and get back on the road. Let us know how it goes if you do in fact get the chance to take your vehicle in. Thank you for your time.

That's exactly when I first noticed it. See my post just above. Take yours in ASAP.
