Tightening the crank bolt to 140 degrees?

My mechanic friend and I got a great start on my Maggie supercharger and Kooks headers install today. We did however get stuck on the step after you drill the 2 holes in the crankshaft pulley and slide in the 2 little pins. You have to torque the bolt to 37lb ft of torque. Then the bolt has to be torqued 140 degrees. He bought the gadget to tell how many degrees the bolt has been turned so we aren't guessing. We have it turned/tightened to 70-75 degrees, but we're such a long way from 140 degrees like it says in the Magnuson manual and its getting VERY hard to turn the bar. To those that have installed a Magnuson TVS2300 supercharger, what did you do to get the pinned crankshaft bolt turned/tightened to 140 degrees?

Also, I have all 3 panels (under the dash, door sill, and rear side) off on the passenger side because of the MSDS fuel pump voltage booster install. Can we run the vacuum line along that side and go through the firewall to the supercharger? Is there a spot to put it through into the engine bay?

If we can get help with these two problems.....tomorrow should be very good and we will finish the supercharger!!

We could only get my crank bolt to around 80 or 90 degrees? We tried everything. We ended up calling it good enough. I can't imagine its going anywhere?

BTW we do know the bolt is torque to yield so we need to "stretch" it, but good God that thing is going to require some serious muscle to get it to 140 degrees

Well I want to make sure that's OK. Ted warned me to follow the directions to a "T". But yeah you are correct.....that bolt ain't going no where!!!

How are you liking the supercharger 11syn3rgy? Mine is red too. It will look sweet on my black '13 1LE

Use an impact wrench. Mark the socket so you can see what you're doing.

We used an impact as well. Still no where near 140 degrees. My buddy has been a GM master mechanic for a long time. I'm not gonna lose any sleep over it

Love it!! I wasn't sure about the red blower with my Synergy Green, but I really like it. Just brought it out to the Car Craft show last weekend, and everyone really liked it. Good luck man!!

Did you install an MSDS fuel pump voltage booster 11syn3rgy? If you did, where did you run the vacuum line through the firewall?

I have it on my list of next mods but I haven't installed it yet. Sorry man. Once I pulley down to 3.6 and install my CAI, I will getting the MSD voltage booster. No need for it with my current set up. I'm sure one of the guys on here will be able to help?
Good luck!

I just pulled mine up tight with an impact and called it good. Had it off 3 times and tightened it the same way every time and it's still on. Hard to hold the motor with the A6.

I really really hope you used a new bolt each time. A bolt is labeled as "Torque to Yield" just for kicks, there's a reason you are supposed to use a new bolt each time.
