For Those With a VDI Kit
Had mine installed and noticed these things are somewhat heavy to lift. I thought it would be much lighter just wondering if mine is the normal here?

The ease of lift is all in the shock . Is this a used kit ?

You guys may be talking 2 different lifts. Mine is easy to lift from outside the car, but seated and getting it to go up is considerable harder from the angle. I have started to swing my legs out and lift the door with one or 2 hands from under the door panel and seems to work well.

What kit are you running? Not sure about vdi . But my LSDoors use a gas shock so when it's
Cold door dosnt open by itself . Now when it's hot I just open the door out and it lifts on its own . |

VDI kit is what I'm running. My shop installed it they did a great job, but not certified installers and not sure if they tackled this type of thing before which I highly doubt.

Theres no adjustment or anything you can do to help while your sitting down, aside from going to the gym and working on your upper body strength... Still an awesome mod, but only so much can be done with a "Manual Hinge and gas shock." |

I can open mine from a seating position i just push up under the door, but I thought it would be much easier, so I guess this is the norm then. Wonder why the guy in the 2 post said he can use 2 fingers to lift up?

You can order the kits from VDI with stronger gas shocks. This also helps compensate if you have heavier aftermarket speakers in the door.

Well the doors aren't made to lift open by themselves. Most people aren't putting the doors up everytime they open the door so a real strong shock would likely cause more issues than it is worth.
With a stronger shock it will put more pressure on the door all the time, so everytime you open the door it will misalign the striker and you will have to constantly put pressure on the door as you close it to shut correctly. VDI offers the stronger shocks at no extra cost when ordering the kits, but they do need to know at the time of ordering the kit.
