Anyone got plans for headers?

Being new to the 5th gen scene and coming from a 3rd gen I'm not down on what is the good stuff for these new camaros yet. What header brands are preferred on the camaro 5? Anyone know of ones made for the ZL1 yet?

On a SC engine headers will cause a loss of boost. (more effecient exhaust) The SC will need to be overdriven to compensate. The exhaust manifolds on the ZL1 are a fairly effeceint design. Headers are not your best bet for increasing power.

I like the kooks design from what I have seen for the LS3. ball and socket connection to the cats.

I think longtubes will work great as long as you get the pulley to match. This seem like a good recipe to get 600whp.

any company that puts out big power without forging the engine usually has longtubes in the mix.

Headers make more power with less boost. Always a good choice. adding boost for even more power is only a 139.00 pully away...

The REAL waste of money is putting heads on a supercharged engine, especially this engine. The heads flow astronomically well as is, and blowers make even crap heads superstars.
Ehaust port work may help a little, but its easier to add more boost to make more power up to the point of piston/rod trouble in these engines.
The reason people arent too quick to suggest headers is that many headers for these models run upwards of 1100.00 or more a set.
So you see why a 139.00 pully seems like a better choice at first glance.

I actually must disagree with this statement that the heads flow well. These heads flow substantially less than an unported LS3 head. On our CTS-v Builds we saw typical gains in the are of 30 rwhp with lower boost, cooler IAT's and of course proper recalibration as it dramatically changed the needs of the engine. The intake port was actually more than half of the gain as our initial testing involved improved exhaust ports only.

Im new getting into the ls world, but whats the physical difference between the lsa and ls3 heads and can they be interchanged if not why?

Sorry if it seems to be a elementary question, again just new to the ls world

the wing in the intake port is what needs to be work for the most gain and yes we've seen the same

The OEM posted flow numbers for these heads are pretty good, so I am not sure what you are getting at..just turn up the boost. Heads are a waste of money on a supercharged engine obviously as long as they are at least half ass good to begin with.

Not disputing that gains can be made with porting, just that there are cheaper easier ways to gain hp with a blower imho.

BTW do you have flow data on a stock set of LSA ZL1 heads compared to stock LS3 heads done on the same flow bench?.

I can ask our cylinder head department, but I believe it was around 35 cfm less then an LS3 head.

Wow! That's a lot. Isn't the wing there to make the air/fuel mix better ultimately leading to greater efficiency and power? I understand the comments about a power difference but am just confused as to why GM would do this. I know the head is better, structurally, but I guess the buck stops there.

Hmmm...

Why would Chevrolet put crappier heads on a ZL1 than on an LS3?...doesn't make sense at all....
