Clutch noise.

Hi, I recently bought a new SS Inferno edition (manual trans.).

Each time I push the clutch or release it I hear a "clack" sound under the gear box. This happens on any gear.

Does any one that has a manual transmission Camaro has the same noise? I would like to know if its normal or I have to worry about that.

Any advice is welcome. Thanks.

Luis.

Is this while the car is moving slowly?

Or does it make the noise even when not moving at all?

If if makes a noise when not moving at all, I'd have it looked at. Sometimes when the car is moving slow, a little clunk noise may be normal which is just the play/clearances in the drivetrain.

Just pushing the clutch in by itself, when the car is not moving, mine makes no noise - and they shouldn't make a noise.

I notice a clack noise after I shut the car off under the hood, I have a v6 6M - have not had any performance issues though so I am assuming its no big deal.

The general consensus of the TR-6060 in this particular vehicle is that it "does" make noise. Mine makes noise, and it bothered me at first, until I came up here and started reading lots of posts regarding the same "Type" of noises.

I certainly hear more transmission noise in this car than any manual car I have driven before but like Russell says above there is no noise happening when I push the clutch in, only when putting it in gear. Also the higher the gear the less noticeable the gear engaging is.

its cus you're slamming the clutch hard. this noise happens to me too on my V6/M6. I dont think its damaging tho. But just like anything else in this world, if you abuse it too much it will get worn down faster.

There are people in the world who push on the clutch gently?

Rusell, there is no noise at all when the car is not moving, engine running or not. The noise shows when I change gears while driving. The noise appears just when the clutch engages or disengages, after that no noise at all.

This is a normal noise of the pressure plate pushing the clutch disk up against the fly-wheel. My car does the same thing - sometimes it "clacks".
