With the JBL MS-8 it takes it a step further actually utilizing your vehicle for what its meant to be and separating the channels to best suit the music's needs.
how did you do this? Can you point us in the right direction?

It's in the last line of 2010 Sin's post, lookup JBL MS-8. Sounds like a sound processor similar to your home theater but the software tweaks it to your listening position. Definitely something I would have bought in my younger, single days. These days, I'll just wait for the good folks in China to make me something cheaper than $800 with a wireless programming screen I don't have to fit somewhere.

Any of you have the "fixed" speakers and amp that have done this?

Here is a question to all who have done this.

Has anyone noticed that after unplugging the center speaker that voice calls seem to not be as loud anymore. I frequently have to turn the volume up to over 30 to hear the person I'm talking to. I don't remember this being an issue when I bought the car, so it just dawned on me that it could be the removal of the speaker.

Good point. Plug it back in and see. Can't say that I truly noticed. But since I listen to the muisc more than talk on the phone, mine will stayed un-plugged.

The difference is HUGE. I was very skeptical about the disabling of a tiny speaker making so much difference. Actually sounds like a premium sound system now.

Thanks!

Also, there isn't any difference in volume in call using bluetooth. Clear and loud at volume 12.

So... After reading through all this I may give it a shot at unplugging.... Here's a question though that I didn't see anyone mention:

Is the increase in performance really because of removing the center speaker, or are we seeing the increase in performance just because of removing a speaker from the Amp -- I mean, wouldn't removing any speaker from the amp in turn boost the signal to the other speakers?

I can see how removing the center can impact stereo, but not overal sound response unless it's redirecting the amp into pushing more juice to the remaining speakers.

Thoughts?
