Do you happen to have a belt number you went too? or an idea on how much smaller of a belt I should be asking for?

Hope this thread isn't too dead by now...

I'm at 486rwhp and 467rwtq on a Mustang Dyno, my current set up is:

L99
Edelbrock SC w/ 3.5" pulley (upgraded from the 3.875") (w/ the 52 lb injectors)
Borla LT Headers
Cat Delete, resonator delete, straight pipe to flowmaster mufflers
AEM Cold Air Intake
Tune

I want to break the 500rwhp mark, hopefully it can take some easy mods to get there?

will the 3.25" pulley be too much PSI for my set up? unless anyone else can tell me some easy & not so expensive mods to go with to get me to the 500rwhp range?

My overall goal was originally 550rwhp, but i'm trying to avoid having to put a cam in and i don't want forged internals... but if that's the way, then that's the way, so i've dropped it to 500rwhp.

Try a ported throttle body and then retune . It should get you close to your goal. It will actually make the car feel more powerful with the better response also

The TB issue - i've searched and searched... the snout to the Edelbrock SC is same as stock from what i've read and getting someone to port it is hard to come by... i've been told by one shop that they have an adapter they make for it, but that seems like putting an adapter on there would defeat the purpose? they estimated 10hp max gains + retune came out to be some $900-$1k for a few hp just seemed too much.

The last tune i had i inquired about fuel and they said my fuel was fine when they were running it... told me not to waste money on a fuel upgrade until im closer to 550rwhp+

When building mine I came to the issue of the TB, you are correct that it is same as stock. Very thin at that with no room to port. It is however very rough inside, we smoothed it out and who really knows if it gained but we tried.

I'm running a 2.6 pulley and am around 14lbs, I am also at 5500ft above sea level.

As you can see from my sig, I'm running the E-Force with the stock pully, ported TB, ZL1 fuel pump, Jannetty fuel upgrade kit and 72# injectors. At 546/rwhp and 522/rwtq. Before the fuel upgrade kit, ZL1 fuel pump and the #72 injectors I ran out of fuel at 6500 rpm. After the above fuel upgrades fuel wasn't a problem anymore.

took me a while to get back on here. I've compiled a list of things i believe i need (if this thread still gets any attention). I'm trying not to go the Cam route to get to what i want, so hopefully someone can chime in and let me know their educated thoughts.

1. JRE Fuel Rail ~ $200
2. ZL1 Fuel Pump ~ $300
3. ADM controller ~ $200
4. ID850 injectors ~ $750-$1000
5. 3.25" pulley ~ $50
6. Belt ~ $25(?)
6. Tune ~ $400

With those upgrades, I've asked before, but feel i need to ask again, will a 3.25" pulley be ok to run with stock internals and such on the L99?

Also, anyone know what belt size I will need for the upgrade?

well you are persistent.... a lil slow ... but persistent

You dont need the fuel rail.... But I would suggest the fuel line mod.
youll be fine with a 3.25 pulley but I would suggest to stay safe add meth.
Ill get the belt size ....

Ha, yes slow! But actually I had been researching and contemplating getting a cam and all the ls3 conversion stuff. But I would much rather go the upgraded bpulley route , and meth had crossed my mind, was talking to the R&D team at AEM a while back about their meth kit.

Thanks for the help!

I haven't posted in awhile, but I came across this since I'm looking to pulley down myself and I thought I'd chime in...

I was trying so hard to avoid the cam route, but the L99 AFM lifters are garbage. They tap and made all kinds of noise, so when I did my blower, I put the whole project on hold and did the LS3 conversion. I went with GMs LS9 Cam (which I'm already bored with), edelbrocks 60# injectors, Zl1 fuel pump, and 3.5in pulley. I put down 525hp on a conservative tune and had plenty of fuel. My boost spiked to 11psi but it was consistently around 7.5 psi until the end of the power band. My tuner told me that's normal and all the eforces surge like that at the end of power band.

As a side note- IF you have the eforce already and if you decide to do a cam, you will HAVE to change your valley plate to the eforce ls3 one. It was a PITA to track one down and find someone willing to sell me just the plate. I paid around $300 for it. Price I paid for changing my mind AFTER I had already bought the blower.

Good luck to ya!
