I wonder if the nay-sayers here hold back from offering to pay for lunch because their money is better off going towards a disaster fund. Come on guys... We just want to help a buddy out.

I can't believe people are being negative in a thread about donating.. That's unbelievable Although a life was not lost, thank goodness, something important was taken from someone. If you choose to donate money or not, negative opinions are so ridiculous on this thread. There's nothing wrong with someone wanting to help out. Shame on those who are being negative towards this. People love their cars, nothing wrong with that.

Good for you for wanting to help a friend out! And shame on those trying to prove some point that it's ridiculous or not important.

My donations go to people that are starving or homeless, not to people that need to buy a new sports car. But, with all do respect, I hope he gets all he can get. Maybe we should all burn our cars, and everyone on the forum could donate a dollar and................

Insurance will replace his car. This is not some kind of tragic story. It's unfortunate, but this man will get a check for a new car.

It is unfortunate, but if you don't want to donate, it's that simple. Someone I know just lost everything in a fire, nobody in her family was hurt, but her families belongings are gone.. The bank will give her a check too. So that means she doesn't deserve donations?

Insurance won't cover performance mods because I didn't report them prior to the fire. Suspension and cosmetic mods they said they would cover, minus "depreciation."

Example: the Racing Brake rotors I saved for almost a year to afford; were installed on May 18th. Insurance says that all four Racing Brake rotors have a combined depreciated value of $250.

So, technically, yes - insurance is "covering" my mods.

Exactly. My camaro was totaled out as well. I would love if those who are sending over $1 to go ahead and send $1.50 instead and Ill take the other $0.50 donation to go towards my rebuilding project. Thanks.

But in all seriousness, just thank god that he is in good health. That car can always be replaced. I would send over some $$ to help out but Im currently trying to save up for a nicer down payment on another camaro.

Figured I may as well post pics - save y'all the trouble of having to go through my build thread

Warning: the below images may not be suitable for young camaro enthusiasts

As painful as it is to look at, this photo is actually one of my favorites, something about a burned out engine bay, melted interior, and a completely unharmed trunk lid.

Is there more to this story? Did it just start on fire while you were driving down the road?
