Hpde tires
When did you guys make the tire switch from stock tires to r compound or racing slick? And what type tire did you go with?

i went with Toyo R888... 285/40/20 all 4 corners.. handles amzing.. had it on my 350z also..amazing...

This will be my 5th track day, actually full weekend coming up next Sat/Sun. Going with the R888s mounted on stock rear rims all the way around Hoping to have fun with the setup. Also installed Pfadt drop springs and sway. I will know more on Saturday.

ive never run the 888s but i know they are a good tire. they are almost a racing slick i think. i changed to 295-35-20 rear on 10s, and 275-35-20 front on 9s. i went with nitto invos and TSW nurburgrings. the nittos are a huge improvement over the PZeros and they wear good.
im sure you already know this but in case you dont, these stock brakes will let you down after you get up to speed. changing out the fluid is a must and better pads will help too. dont get hawk HPS. they melt at high temps. get at least HP plus. upgrading my brakes shaved my lap times more than anything else ive done. |

In the NASA NorthEast region, there are two of us in Camaro's. (Not a popular platform yet, but we are optimistic!)
I have run the OEM Pirelli in 275/40/20 on four 9" OEM wheels (rear wheels mounted on the front). I have also run 275/40/20 Nitto NT05. I am currently using Bridgestone RE-11 in 305/30/19 sizes on Forgeline wheels (same wheel Forgeline built for Pedder's Suspension). I believe the other car is currently running 305 front and 315 rear Hoosier R6 on 18" CCW wheels. We have each done other changes the cars and they run at similar speeds, so it is difficult to tell how much of a change the slicks have made. I really like the Bridgestone RE-11. If I am too lazy to load the trailer/Suburban, I can just drive it to the track, and the RE-11 is a good rain tire, so I can still run the car on a wet track like we had at Watkins Glen this past weekend.

Wore out my Proxes and went with Nitto NT01s. Seemed to have more grip and warm up quicker. Really pleased with them.
