I've seen those tips on a couple of Caprice Classic "Donks" riding around here in town.

I just got my mufflers cut off today, and installed the pipe with the stock tips at the muffler shop. I must say I am VERY happy with the sound. I couldn't ask for anything more. It sounds like it should now. The best part about it is it only cost me 108.65. Thanks to all who posted on this matter. If you are considering doing it you WON'T be disappointed. Beats spending 600.00 and up for a cat back that doesn't sound any better. No drone. Thanks again. Camaro 5 rocks!

I just added a K&N Cold Air Intake, and with the muffler delete, it just sounds awesome. Granted, I have a V6, but now it's sounding almost like a V8 lol, and not like a ricer-ish Honda

I'm pretty sure it's illegal in the state of California to remove the mufflers completely lol, but ya, since the cat isn't touched, you'd prob still pass smog. Quote:

I lust did this mod on my SS last night before i even checked the this forum. It's a great mod! ... the sound clip is pretty good < but doesn't give it justice. it sounds really good in person.!!
when driving at 1500-1800 rpm you are barely louder then stock< but when u open it up it really comes alive. I think its one of the nicest sounds for current gen camaros. I weighed the mufflers and they were about 17.5 lbs each ( with tips on) ... on a canadian car (don"t know if that makes a difference on smog components). It cost me $40 for 2 - 2.5" dia. U bend pipes with 5" rad. and a 14" straight section on each end of bend. and it took about an hour for the complete re and re (welding included) I will post pics later. |

Well I just had this done on my LS3 camaro. It sounds great at start up and reving but do you guys notice drone in the cabin whne driving around 2000 to 3000 rpm's? I had the shop install new ss 4" tail pipes but the inlets were 3", so they had to use 3" piping. Maybe I'm just not used to the loudness of not having any mufflers at all but I'm wondering if the drone from 2000 to 2700 rpm is just in my head ar not. Have any of you folks expereinced this?

If drone is a problem, there's always this solution:
Or maybe this one modified/adapted to fit the application: http://www.camaro5.com/forums/showthread.php?t=93944 I love custom exhaust shops. |
