SALES TAX COMMENTS

A while back I complained on a thread about our 6.25% sales tax and our 5% per year excise tax here in Massachusetts. I was attacked by a group of people because their state either had a higher sales tax or they thought that I should gladly pay these fees for the priveledge of getting a new 1SS.
To those people; have you read the paper or watched the news within the last couple of days? Have you seen that our US Senator, John Forbes Kerry, registered his $7,000,000.00 yacht in Rhode Island to avoid these taxes in his home state? Do some of you now understand what pisses me off about these hippocrytes?
If a cop sees out of state plates on your car for more than thirty days in the Bay State, you will get a knock on the door. We even have a 1-800 number for reporting each other, it is 1-800-IPAYTAXES. The 11.25% tax in the first year would have bought some nice mods. The annual 5% excise tax would pay for the insurance.

Ditto the above but I bet this thread may not survive the moderators. Borderline politics.

Sounds like a good excuse for a Tea Party to me ... IMO taxes are pretty much non-partisan because both sides of the fence like to tax ...

I kind of figured that MA, of all states, would like to be free of colonial rule!

Wait, what?

I know plenty of well off people on both sides that technically evade taxes by having multiple residences. Not having to pay state income tax in IL because you have a ski cottage in Nevada is pretty nice if you ask me.

Actually the Revolution wasn't started by the Boston Tea Party - the Boston Massacre was enough to piss everybody off.

I agree with you that this does suck very badly for you ,but really if you don't like it then move. I didn't like the school system where I was living so rather than complain about it ,I moved to a better one. If you live up there and can afford a new camaro then you must be doing okay. I own my own business and I couldn't afford to live up there.

You forgot to mention that when Rose Kennedy passed away a few years ago, the Kennedy's made sure that the legal residence was Florida, so they didn't have to pay Massachusetts inheritence tax.............

Why should I move? I would rather make Kerry move back to Louisburg Square on Beacon Hill and leave Washington. I guess that you missed the point of the thread, it was NOT about me paying taxes. It was about our senator John F. Kerry NOT PAYING HIS TAXES! We don't run away here in the Bay State. On April 19th, 1775 the British decided to try to confiscate our guns. They marched through Cambridge and Arlington up to Lexington where they ran into a rag tag band of radicals called the Minutemen. Shortly thereafter, shots were fired from the Bigelow Tavern and the seeds of a nation were sown. The British then went to Concord where they were met by more Minutemen on the North Bridge. They hightailed it back to Boston. But first, they had to pass through Arlington where they encountered 79 year old Samuel L. Whittemore. He rose from behind a wall and shot three of them dead and stabbed two more with a sword. They shot him and bayonetted him and left him for dead. He survived and lived to be 93 years old. He is our state hero. We will remember in November.

Now how could I have forgotten that? Thanks for reminding me. Don't you just love the hypocracy of these law makers?

Yay Politics!

That aside, our Government is run by hypocrites (spelling?) and no matter who we throw out of office nor whomever we elect there will still be hypocracy in our Nation's Capital. Is it depressing fact of American society that our leaders are cutting corners? A little bit. Unfortunately we cannot go Guy Fox (very good reference by the way) on the Capital. All in all, taxes suck and we all have to pay them. No matter what the percentage differences are between our states. The new National Health Care bill will not help the situation in the least as the upper middle class/upper class will be seeing a 4-5% jump in income tax. Now, with all of that said and done let's try and refrain from bashing politcal parties, Senators, and Congressmen. Like everybody else in the world we all have our own opinion, and just because you can proclaim your opinion far and wide with that nice big megaphone of yours doesn't mean in any way that it's better than my opinion, or Tag's opinion, or The Fbodfather's opinion. It is simply your opinion.

EDIT: Didn't mean to call you out in my post there, just the first two names I thought of.
