Question Wich is the best all year round tire?

Hi Guys,

Wich would be the best all year round tire replacement for my ZL1? Since I'm in South TX I don't think that my ZL1 would see any snow or ice on the road, also I want to keep the stock tires sizes, looking for great spirited driving and probably some track time, ocassional driving on strong rains, frequent high 100 F and some low 30s weather. My choices are between Hankook R-S3 or the BFGoodrich g-Force Comp-2A/S tires. Tire longevity could also count but in lesser degree.

No experience with the tires you mentioned. I will say that the Nitto Motivo is a great all season tire. The price, tread wear, and warranty make it an all star. Give it a look.

Michelin seems to be the better tire for your area I would think. That is the one I would get. I had a set on my last Z and really liked them.

Okay, this might get long lol! I am running the BFG Comp-2 A/S. I put them on at the end of November last year. It proceeded to sit in the garage til Easter. My vacation this year was from the last half of March to 1st week of April. I ran them in the rain for those 3 weeks in SE Missouri off and on. Temps were in the low 40's to mid 60's. It did see snow 1 day in MO. I did not drive in it as it melted quick. I have drove on these tires in 35 degree temps since, traction is no problem in all normal driving. If you want to push this tire in the cold, yes you can brake it loose. I am referring to a dead stop and taking a 90 degree turn. It will give you some tail happy fun but, it is all predictable and will not get you in trouble in any way .Okay fast forward to 2 weeks ago. I finally had a chance to run them at Gingerman Raceway. I took the first 20 minute session nice and easy, get to know the track, see where to brake and so forth. These tires are unbelievable. I was getting point byes by Camaro SS's and Rouch 428's . Never did I doubt these tires as I headed into the 90 degree turns as I came down the straights at 105 mph. And no I was not braking early. Used the 2nd or last flag for braking. Buy this tire at all costs. There was a BFG tire representative that day and she was very interested in my tire wear and pressures. She said everything was perfect as to any feathering or shoulder wear. It did start to rain at noon. She said if I were to go out there, I would set the fastest lap of the session if anybody had a pair to follow me. I really do believe the rain part of this tire will amaze any one

I used to have those MPSS tires on my prior '11 GT 5.0 that I had with a modified suspension, I used them also for the track , it improved my cars handling greatly compared to the stock pirellis. Probably my only concern with the MPSS on my Zl1 is that since they are wider than the ZL1 fenders, probably they will chip my car's paint with road debris and maybe also they could affect
my car's handling because they are wider than the stock tires size.

No. I run 315 pss2 on rear and 285 up front with zero issues. But I dont road track my car so they were a comete waste for me for that kind of money. The rears can hardly get the stock power to the ground in a drag race with no prep, im at 600rwhp now and break loose at will. Theyre a great track tire but keep in mind my experience if your planning to drag race with them.
They do wear a HELL pf a lot better than the stock GYs though. My stock GYs were horrible, possibly the worst set of tire wear ive ever experienced. Fronts wore outside shoulder BAD, to the point i went to the dealership twice and demanded an alignment but it was spot on both times. Rears only lasted 10k and were bald when i swapped them out. To me, GY lost my business for life after dealing with those tires.

It's a syn, where did you buy your BFG's. I have been trying to find some for my ZL1 and can't find any place that has them in stock.

Before I owned a ZL1, I owned a Chevy Cobalt SS which I autocross the hell out of. I used the Hankook tires which stuck like glue. Now with the ZL1 I have the BF Goodridge tires that also stick like glue. Both tires are awesome.

That BFG Comp 2 is really a good tire. It is a ton more quiet than the stock GY. Heavy rain and it doesn't hydroplane as least not for me. I am concerned that they are not making this in 305 any more. If you can find this tire, and want just a really good performing tire that isn't a one trick poney. Best of all, I got the set for under a grand about $900 if I remember right. Hard to beat this tire especially for the money.
