PF48E delco filters

Has anyone had any bad experiences with these filters? I just bought one off Amazon to go with my Mobil 1 stuff and figured for $3 OE parts can't be too bad

I've usually gotten my oil changed at the dealer so I assume this is the filter they've always put on my car

I know I'm probably in my own head on this one but the search function will make you think many things!

I use NAPA Platinum oil filters. I was told they were made by Wix. Not sure if that's true or not but seems like a good filter.

Cut a few different brands apart, decide on the quality for yourself.

My favorite filter for LS motors is the WIX 57060XP. Checks all the boxes for top quality. Not the cheapest, but I don't cheap out on vital car parts.

Now let me bash Amazon for a hot minute. F'n whores! I will never buy another car part or movie from Amazon.

Bought some ARP bolts a few months ago from Amazon. Packaging looked odd. I have tons of other ARP products on my garage shelves, all the packaging is consistent. The instructions looked odd, like a bad xerox instead of professional printing. I happened to be going to a trade show where ARP was going to be...I took them with me... f'n Chinese counterfeits. First thing the ARP rep said was... did you get these from Amazon? Yup. Don't bother reporting, they'll do nothing about it. I reported it to Amazon, and returned them. Same ad for the same counterfeit ARP bolts from the same vendor is still on Amazon today.

Bought a couple movies on Amazon, real cheap. Turned out to be crappy picture and audio.... my brother knows people that can check out copywrited stuff... a couple weeks later I hear back both movies are Chinese counterfeits.

F - Amazon. Just saying.

As a NAPA employee I can confirm that your filter is indeed made by WIX.

That is true. The NAPA Platinum is a WIX XP. Car Quest oil filters are also WIX.

Considering I've probably been running this filter for the last 40K I'll let er ride one more time and next time I might look into getting a Mobil 1 filter

I'm definitely gonna look at the contents of my old filter just to look, I'm nearly at 70K with no problems I just wanted to see what kind of knowledge you fellas could provide

I don't like the plastic core in the pf48e, I'd personally look for the pf48 to use instead. Like someone else suggested though, I use a Wix filter now. Great internal quality.

I have been using the AC Delco Ultraguard Gold that GM installs for the ZR1/Z06 from the factory - ACDelco UPF48R Specialty Ultraguard Engine Oil Filter.

  • Equipped with 98% multi-pass filtering efficiency at 25-30 microns for outstanding filtering capabilities
  • Designed to withstand five times greater force than most engine operating pressures, after oil reaches operating temperatures, for a longer life
  • Has a thermosetting adhesive seal to keep filtering media in place for dependable performance

Has a higher burst strength rated, thicker steel case
All metal core
Pressure bypass valve

Fits the LS3/L99 perfectly.

I bought 2 today from Amazon for only $17.86 total. $8.38 each as of 4/27/17

No problems with the PF48E filter. Have had them for the last two years.

Supposedly the internal plastic cage allows for more filter area.

At any rate, no issues here.

Another vote for the UPF48R here, but I get them from my local dealer. Always nice to support the local guys.

Look for the PF48 without any letter after. They pop up on eBay every now and then. I just scored 5 at a fin apiece (free ship). NO plastic guts in the old ones !!!!
