Modifications with excess millage?

I have a 2010 SS LS3. I have just hit 64k miles :(. I am in great desire to modify my Camaro; but, I am afraid that with the milage that I have placed on my ride would not be beneficial for me to modify. Am I wrong or right? Is 64k miles to much to even consider modifying?

My ride is a Daily drive & is operated highly conservatively. The only mods that I have are a CAI & muffler delete. With my daily operations in the urban environment I adverage 21 Mpg.

Before I dump money into my toy I would like an opinion from the Camaro5 group. If someone could assist me, this would be greatly appreciated. Knowledge is power.

I put some Lt headers on at your mileage with a tune. I now have 78k and runs like a champ. Gears are next

What kind of mods are you thinking? IMO, with the amount of mileage you have you got nothing to worry about.

I am considering LT, cam (G6x3), w/ all supporting mods (lifters), & ring & pinion change

Thank you. Your comment gives me confidence. I was a mechanic at one time; however, I have been out of that line of business since "98. Auto makers most certainly have improved the longevity & operational performance of today's automobiles.

64k miles is nothing these days on a well maintained motor. My brothers 2010 has over 60k miles and has LT's and a tune on it, runs every bit as well as my 39k mile 2010 with the same mods.

Doing normal bolt ons and cams really doesn't put that much more stress on a motor anyway, i'd expect the bottom end to go 200k miles.

This is cool. Is there any one who knows of any dependable or reputable performance shops in NJ. My plan was to hit Vengeance Racing; but, since my job now has me going to Jersey now I'm in search for a new shop.

64K is nothing. We recently did a heads / cam / intake / built trans + stall / gear package for a 2003 Corvette with 165,000 miles on it. Car runs like a scalded dog with no issues.

My recommendation to folks wanting to do mods but are concerned with mileage is to do both a leak down & compression check. If your engine passes both of those tests, let it eat.

165k! Durn... I remember when at or around 80k on our weekend cruiser/drag was time for a bearing roll-in on a SB Chevy

Say goodbye to those 21 mpg once you cam it. I get around 13/15 city cammed. On the highway I get about 26.

Nice! Well that is not as bad as I thought. I had a "69 Camaro w/4:10 gear set that got roughly 4 1/2 mpg until I changed the ring and pinion out to a 3:08 out of a Trans-am... Man I was excited when I started getting about 6 mpg

3-4 sets... dude that's a lot. On that note, I might have to consider a 9" rear end. If there is a 9" rear or one that matches it's strength
