I agree with PSJ... 26 is too short as that will also simulate a rear gear ratio change. I think when i looked it took the stock 3.45 up to a 3.80ish range.

I run 18in drag radials as stated earlier, with a twin disk clutch. And although its not as consistant as a slick... it can get job done. I really dont think a slick is necessary as there are members that have pulled of 1.5x 60fts repeatedly with a drag radial.

as for my results i usually average around the low 1.8x's and on good launches dip into the 1.7's... my goal is to pull off a 1.65 or better 60ft on them which i see achievable.

if you are going to race competitevly and frequently... then look into a V6 conversion in the back, some Weld 17's and slicks.

If you do it from time to time for fun. Just stick with 18's and DR

Agree with everything you said, except....You don't need a V6 brake conversion to run 17" Welds.

So, you guys are getting smaller then 20" rims to fit with the SS brakes? Interesting, cause i know when i did the V6 to V8(SS) brake conversion i was told i have to run 20" rims to clear the calipers.

Not True. With a few minor modifications, there are a few 17" wheels, and several 18" wheels that will fit over the Brembo Brake Package. For 17's, you will most likely need to modify your lower control arm, or buy aftermarket BMR arms. And all will require the emergency brake cable to be secured out of the way so that it will not rub. If you have OEM Brembo brakes on the front, you will need to cut off the brake pad resonators (roller skates).

All 20" DR's are a little pricey, so also check around locally on CL and on www.tbssowners.com (Trailblazer SS) sometimes good deals on there. I've DD on mine in rain and they were like stock.

I'm now also running a set of 305/18 NT555R's on 18's, not stealthy, went 1.66 on them I have a converter now. I would only DD if you have a short commute like me, mine is 5 miles one way.

Yes those are ZR1 replicas... they can be found at factoryreproductions.com ... believe they are about $200 each and make sure you get the offset +40 to fit correctly.

And Blazin1... thanks for correcting me, i meant to write a v6 conversion OR the welds. But you absolutely correc that the 17 welds fit over brembos.

Thanks for the info, even 18's i would think better then the 20's. Shame my 15's drag radials from my 67 wont fit.

There are a couple companies making 15" conversions....but that's a complete brake package swap and some suspension parts too!!! Fairly big $$$$$$!!! Besides the wheels wouldn't work anyway....completely wrong offsets.

Unless you are going single digets you just dont need anything but a 305 m/t drag radial on a 20" wheel lol

I've been running the nittos 555r's for years, run consistent mid 10's, unless you want to dip into the 9's I would try out the nittos on stock wheels, they last about 10k miles and about 70 passes
