Shorties and Middies Installed

Here's the startup sound of the shorties and middies. No tuning changes made.

HP gains coming. I need to schedule another dyno day. Between being out of work with the broken bone and now for the baseline dyno and install I need to be in the office a few days before getting the after dyno ... it's COMING! ;-)

Brian. Dude I can't wait to see how you do on the track after these power mods! Also that sounds so mean but have you seen any CEL come on at all after the install? I'm sorry but I just hated that on my V6 and I hope you never have that problem un-tuned. You, Todd, and I need to get together more often since we are so close to each other.

I have actually had 3 so far. The 1st was cause one of the bolts connecting the high flow cats to the exhaust manifold came off. I just had another(my 3rd) apparently with the heat/cooling cycle of the stainless steel cats the o2 extenders are coming loose. With the midsize Vibrant o2 extenders there aren't any issues with the car sniffing the o2 sensors. I need to find something like locktite the stop them from coming loose. If not then i will have to climb under the car every so often and make sure the o2 sensors are tight.

CEL - I picked up the car yesterday (Thursday) at 1pm. Drove it home on the freeway 2 miles. No CEL. Drove the kids to dinner and back on surface streets 3-4 miles each way. No CEL. Drove to work (Friday) on the freeway, 12 miles. No CEL.

Drove home on the surface street and I kept dickin' around with the Sunset Orange Exhaust Commander. MAN, the car is LOUD with the flaps open driving around the surface streets. Of course I like it but it's really obnoxious. So, with the flaps closed it's much more calm. For example, at a funeral or driving by a church or leaving your gal's place at 2am you might want to shut the flaps down.

With the flaps shut I got the CEL tonight. Note: I cannot determine this to be causal. More experimentation is needed to prove this.

I meant to install the Vibrant Extender but, having not realized I needed to buy two, I did not. I'm hoping to buy second Extender and install them myself. From the sounds of Mark's experience it seems like Loctite may be the way to go.

Mark: how are you clearing them? Or do they clear on their own?

I was thinking about going this route myself since I'm seriously thinking about turbo in the future. Any vids of acceleration or normal driving? Sounds great idling imo.

@anaconda, the expectation with headers is that you loose some torque. Since mine are shorty headers I don't expect it to be too degraded. Again, my post mod dyno is coming.

Per your request I'll do a driving video with audio this weekend and post.

Hey Brian, no cleaning them ? this is the first i have heard of that. Note: 9-20-14 just got back from my exhaust shop, i threw that 3rd cel that i had mentioned, and had time to run over there today. It wasn't a loose extender this time, i dont remember what the code said but he told me he has had problems with they Vibrant extenders........sigh!!!!!!!!!! The made me some custom ones so we'll see what the future folds.
