Yeah, but I love F'ing back with dealers like that. If I had been in that situation and was serious. I would look at them and say I'd give 63 on the Vette, and I'll take 53 on the ZL1, nothing more, nothing less, written down my number and walked. They'll call.

And if they don't call now because the Vettes are still in demand, give it a week, the newness will wear off, they'll get another and want to sell it.

F'n with sales managers, America's favorite past time.

They wont call. No way you are getting 53,000 for a 2013. Brand new ones are 10,000 off msrp. The value of these things has fallen like a rock. Autotrader instant value puts a 2012 around $37,000. You can buy a used 2013 Convertible Zl1 with 1,300 miles for $49,999.

Sure hope you gave the guy a good swift kick in the nut sack on your way out!

Yeah, this was back in August. Dealer offered me $52,500 to purchase the car back, not trade. CarMax gave me a check for $53,500, again no trade. I definitely think the new Corvette moved the ZL1 market downward.

Thanks. Deal was on, off, on again so many times I really didn't think it was going to happen. Anyone that's bought out of state and dealt with Massachusetts and their archaic car buying rules can attest. If you drive the car off the lot in MA and don't have an out of state plate, you pay MA taxes and pay taxes again in your home state. I transferred money to the dealer's account for the car having never put eyes on it. They sent the title to the bank and then I could get a plate in NC. I then flew to MA with the license plate in my carry-on bag. Took a cab to the dealer, put the plate on and drove home.

Pretty sure. Yeah they'll call, even if it's to jerk you around on the phone over the price.

They aren't a private buyer buying it from you, they're taking it in trade. More wiggle room. It's all about what they can come off the price of the other car really. Plus, don't forget to deal with a volume dealer, he works off of incentives.

I'm stone cold on negotiating with people like that, and they either hate it, or are good at acting like they hate it. On my last Harley I had the sales manager red in the face, I thought the guy was about to pop. I told him that he could blab all he wanted, this was the price, or it wasn't a sale. In the end, he wouldn't let me leave without the bike. All sales people expect you to be a pansy, don't be one.

Well unless like i did and paid cash you still had to make payments on top of the 6.5k you lost, and the tax

Its not every day you come arcoss one with 1300k for 50k....most of them are still being priced out in the 55k and up..a loaded vert wont be that cheap for long its just because its the end of the yr,once it gets hot the price will start to go up again some..
