Since some say this is noticeable with aftermarket upgrades, does the same apply with the GMPP upgrades? I mean, are they "tuned" specifically to the car, knowing this? Or would they just be the same as any others? Just curious. Thanks.

First: you'll never notice the switch, it's seamless. It only goes to 4cyl when the load on the engine drops to a power demand that is less than the rated HP in 4cyl mode. As soon as you put an additional load on the engine, like pushing down on the gas peddle it instantaneously changes back to 8cyl and will give you the full 400hp. As far as the sound goes unless you have a window down, your head hanging out and are feathering the gas on and off while watching the info center.... you'll never know it. If you want the growl then push on the peddle on the right and "let er rip".

I 100% can tell everytime it goes in and out of 4cyl. I deleted it a week ago with my efi live, seems more responsive at all times, and also has been getting close to the same mpg..
FYI I think it said in the programming.. 3000 rpm and lower at certain low % throttle postions is when it kicks in. I didn't pay attn. to it, because I was deleting it so didn't really care.

What if you are running on the M mode instead of D, will it still do it? I always drive on M mode and my MPG sucks. I average 16.5

What you want is the Range V8 AFM Eliminator. Won't drive without it.

I hate cylinder deactivation and the governmental regulation that pushes manufacturers to do stupid things like this. Think about what is happening inside the engine when four cylinders aren't firing. The computers are smart enough to make it happen but they aren't smart enough to defy the laws of physics. Almighty Honda is learning this lesson right now. Think GM is any smarter?
