Question Defenderworx Auto Shifter Install Questions????

So when I slide the bottom knuckle part of the shifter over the inner shifter, it only fits one way and thats with the set screws facing the rear. If I'm right aren't the set screws supposed to face my radio? With it set up my shifter is basically backwards unless I'm just super retarded right now and I'm missing something completely obvious... Any help would be great! Thanks I also would post pics but I'm away from my computer and using my phone.

I think you just have to turn the base around. I installed mine but noticed flakes of chrome coming off the base by the black rings. Does yours look like this before you installed it?

There is no need for a video, this is so easy a 1 armed caveman can do it.

Just start the car, put it in neutral. Cut the engine so you don't slip it into gear when you're messing with it. Once it's out of park you should have the room you need. The nut does indeed face the radio. I put a dab of locktite on the threads since they have a tendency to back out when you use the shifter. Before I did that I'd come away with the grip in my hand every month or so. Good luck and enjoy.

what would you recommend for the side to side movement. seems like its not as solid as the stock. as far as not tightening to much are they talking about the one that attaches to the car/mount or the screw that adjusts the amount of pressure to shift?

also getting lock tight tomorrow thanks

Adjustment

The adjustment for getting rid of the side to side is as follows:
Remove the base and you'll see four (if I recall correctly) vinyl set screws. Use a small screwdriver and put it through the hole at the opposite side to adjust. The PITA part is that you have to reassemble each time to check fitment.
If you're handle won't stay on, you may have a bad base. The elongated hole on the front side of the base should go all the way through and not just be a groove. I got one like this and it would not stay on because the set scew in the handle was grinding in that groove rather than sliding in it when shifting. I called Defenderworx and they sent me a replacement base free. Works great now. Hope that helps.
